10x-4y=24

How do I solve this!?

Set x = 0, solve for y.
10(0) - 4y = 24
-4y = 24
y = -6

(0, -6) is a solution.

Also, you can set y = 0
10x -4(0) = 24
10x =24
x = 2.4

(2.4, 0) is also a solution.

I'm not 100% certain that that is what you were looking for...hope it helps!

Y intercept

x = 0

10x - 4y = 24

10(0) - 4y = 24

0 - 4y = 24

- 4y = 24

Divide both sides of the equation by - 4

- 4y / - 4 = 24 / - 4

y = - 24/4

y = - 6

- - - - - - - - -

x intercept

y = 0

10x - 4y = 24

10x - 4(0) = 24

10x - 0 = 24

10x = 24

Divide both sides of the equation by 10

10x / 10 = 24 / 10

x = 24/ 10

simplify

x = 12/5

x = 2 2/5

x = 2.4

If you have 2 variables, you need at least 2 equations. Other wise;

x = (24+4y)/10 = 0.4y + 2.4
or
y = (24-10x)/-4 = 2.5x - 6

The best you can do is solve for y in terms of x or x in terms of y:

y = 2.5x - 6

x = 0.4y + 2.4
