I'm a proud, liberal democrat.

Our family shares one small car that gets 35 mpg. We walk to do local errands when possible. We combine errands that we cannot walk to.

We buy our electricity through a program that insures that our energy is produced by "green" sources, even though it raises our electric bill $10-20 per month.

We use only compact fluorescent bulbs.

We recycle glass, cans, paper and cardboard. We compost our organic waste and use it in our gardens.

We have a modest vegetable garden in which we grow some of our food; organically, of course.

We heat our home entirely with wood from diseased, damaged or surplus trees that were culled by the local parks dept. We clean our own chimney every month.

Our property is listed as certified wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

We vote ONLY for pro-choice, progressive candidates. We also support them financially and serve as campaign volunteers for them.

We try to buy only from companies that are ecologically responsible and that support their communities and offer their workers reasonable wages and benefits. Needless to say, we will never darken the door of a Wal-Mart.

We try to teach our children to be ecologically aware, fiscally responsible and to leave the world better than they found it.

I think part of this question may be a trap. If you feel that the rules of a game are unfair and you want them changed, then it doesn't necessarily follow that you should peanalize yourself until they are. We still live in a competitive society where people need every edge they have.

If I want curbside recycling in my area and push hard for it politically, but I also don't want to fill my car with tin cans and drive 10 miles to drop it off until that happens. I'd rather see the rules changed so everyone can recycle so that nobody has to be put out to do what is right.

I wish everyone who owned a prius would take all the extra money they spent on that car to feel good about themselves and instead put it toward a political group that will fight to fix the fundamental problem of pollution and greenhouse gases for everyone, not just the greenies.

I'm Conservative, so my political beliefs don't affect my every day life. I worry about myself and my family. I got a college education, have a great career, I own a home, I'm married with 3 kids. I enjoy traveling on my vacations, preferrably snowboarding or hanging out on my boat at the lake. I make sure my kids do good in school and have every opportunity possible to do what makes them happy in life.

I try to temper common sense with kindness . . . there are so many things that I am fortunate enough to not understand. I have never known hunger, been unduly persecuted, discriminated against, or otherwise overlooked by the legal system. I try not to judge too harshly those that do understand. Democrat.
