Yes, the mass media helps to perpetuate a lot of the negative stereotypes that are meant to distort the truth. The media tends to show blacks and minorities in a negative light while showing white people in a very positive and appealing way. There are faults with everyone of any race, It's just that the faults of blacks are highlighted in order to create an image that is used to reinforce the idea of inferiority of blacks when compared to whites. Any educated person would know that 99.9 % of what the media creates is an illusion meant for "entertainment" purposes only and those who choose to know the truth need to utilize other more reliable sources.

I don't think so. Not admitting that racism is still alive and active and doing nothing to end it keeps it alive. For example, I often hear people talk about the "glass ceiling" and I know that in our country the white male is bascially in charge but if the glass celiling is keeping us from making it to the top, then we need to try and go around the glass ceiling rather than trying to go through it. The glass ceiling can't stop us from using our brains and gifts.

Good question !
Of course,
since the very beginning, they have done this, sometimes in a very open way and some others ( lately ) in a smooth, almost imperceptible way
TV, movies, magazines, etc. just take a closer look to the movie 1 million years before christ, they "teach" people to "adore" blonde ones.

Anytime someone talks or thinks about race, that keeps racism alive.

No, people do. It is our society (people) that determine what is put into the media, so you can't blame an invention for racism. That comes from upbringings and personal views.

I think it does.
When there are reports all the time about a white guy killing a black guy, or vise-versa with any skin color, their skin is always made known.
They can't say this man killed this man, they say this WHITE man killed this BLACK man. Or this HISPANIC man killed this ASIAN man. Or whatever...
I understand they say color if the person is a fugtive. The public needs to know what to look for and color is a dead giveaway.

If we decriminalized homicide, rape, theft, and attack do you think of human beings might in basic terms coexist luckily like a set of pacifist hippies?

No. Ignorance from people themselves do. The media is a convenient scapegoat and nothing more.

I believe it enables this concept because it brings the ugliest of this issue to our faces; yet, does nothing to bring resolution
If there were more messages and stories of tolerance, understanding, and compassion we may see change in our society's priorities.

If the media reported all the crimes perpetrated by blacks on White people, the KKK would grow so strong that blacks would be on the next boat to africa.
