It is a neon tetra. It kept getting stuck to my filter so I moved it to a different tank. It is very skinny, but doen't seem to have a loss of apitite. It doesen't have clamped fins or rapid breathing, It has been swimming very slowly near the bottom of the tank and every once and a while not moving at all. It devloped this condition this morning, It is NOT a new fish. my water is not cloudy or dirty.

Unfortunately, once a fish gets so weak that it gets caught be the filter, it's usually too far gone to save. I know that's not what you want to hear and I'm sorry to say it, but it's true.

Hm, I went to an aquarium and a fish was getting stuck to a filter, it was moving around and still alive but couldn't swim away. I told a memeber of staff and he moved it, but it still wobbled around and flipped over and couldn't balance. He said the first sign of a fish dying is loss of balance. Can it swim OK or is it wobbling around alot. Also, even though I had already fed it, my fish was lying at the bottom of the tank, I gave it some more food and it was OK, so try feeding it extra. Did you use strong cleaning agents on the tank- if so it could be making your fish queasy. Try cleaning out one of the tanks completely just with water and a water-purifiying product. Hope this helps!

I had a neon tetra that got stuck to my filter too. It lived for a few days and seemed fine then all of a sudden died. I asked the pet store why it happened when the fish had seemed ok. They told me it could've had internal damage caused by the suction of the filter. Now, if your fish has white on it your fish may have ick. You can have your water tested for it or take your fish into a pet store to get their advice. I would suggest calling a pet store to talk to someone who specializes in fish they would be able to help you a lot.
