Depends on the test. IQ tests are very subjective.
An "average" IQ score would be 100, but again that is subjective. You can be highly intelligent, but be a poor test taker OR have dyslexia, both of which will impact the outcome of the score, right!?

It used to be that IQ = 100 x (mental age / chronological age), so if you are 20 years old and have a brain of a 27-year old, then youre IQ would be 100x(27/20), or 135.
IQ has since changed to represent the bell curve with 100 being the middle and standard deviation of 15. So 100 is the average IQ of the population. An IQ of 129 would mean that you're ~2 standard deviations above the mean, which would make you very smart ("smart" relative to the average person). This is the technical explanation.
But ... scientific studies tell us that the average IQ has been rising 3-4 points per decade. How is that possible if by definition, 100 is the average IQ? Plus, most people I know seem to have an IQ of like 120~130--and I don't know anyone with an IQ below 100--so I don't know what IQ really means anymore. If the bell curve definition is true, then there should be just as many people with 130 IQ as there are people with 70 IQ (which is borderline retarded).

By definition, average IQ is 100.
Is this an actual IQ test administered by a psychologist, or one of those free internet "tests"? I find it hard to believe that someone who scored 129 doesn't comprehend how the scoring works.

129 is falls into the category of "bright." The next level would be very bright, and then you start the genius levels. 129 is a great score! Congratulations!

I have the same iq of 129. I know people who are in the 140s and I know people around 100. They say the avg rang is around 100. But I think most people who do well in college or have technical jobs - probably have iq's in the 120s and above.
