Software that tends to Hijack your browsers web connections to do their own purposes. They will change your homepage to another homepage no matter how many times you change it or you can do a search in Google, but instead of getting the results back from Google, your search request is actually hijacked and sent to another search engine.

A computer that has been hijacked is hardly likely to tell you that it has been hijacked, that would be self-defeating.
What is telling you that the computer has been hijacked?

hijack is a virus seeking program thats supposed to help you find and get rid of all kinds of malware and other bad things that are messing up your computer. if you have a "hijack" icon on your scree, changes are you probably already have the "hijack program installed on your computer. go to "start"-"control panel"-"add/remove"programs. scroll down that list and see if you have "hijack" in there. if you dont want it ,high light it and in the same line to the right of it click on "remove". hope this helps, good luck.

Usually it refers to a virus or malware infestation such as a "browser hijack" that forces your web-searches onto a site you don't want.
Use a good anti-spyware program to stop it from happening; I use Spybot Search & Destroy but Adaware SE is easier to use - both are free.

Something like that happened to me- it was annoying as heck. I'd type in a web address like www.yahoo.com and instead of going there, it would go to other sites like ESPN or something ! I'd try to check my mail and instead of going to mail, it would go to a different site. I finally just got a new computer.
