It definitely is part of our lives. We do many things for charity -
1. Twice each year we go through our clothing and stuff and donate to a thrift shop that benefits our local hospital. It is especially good for our daughter who loves that she donates toys and clothing to kids whose parents may not be able to afford new things for them.
2. Monthly, we volunteer at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) working on a dinner or other events
3. We volunteer with an organization called TAPS - Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a non-profit that helps those who have lost a loved one in active duty military service. (www.taps.org) We give monetary donations, but we also help plan their events for free and we help design and print some of their materials. We also volunteer every Memorial Day Weekend at their Annual Seminar and at Marine Corp Marathon where they have a team participate.
4. We also volunteer at the Red Cross Annual Waterfront Festival in Alexandria, VA every summer.
We are generally conservative.

I am charitable all the time...I spare the lives of stupid people that annoy the hell out of me every day by not killing them. If you live in downtown Detroit, you know exactly what I'm talking about
But on a serious note, yes, I do charity...every Christmas I donate a portion of my earnings from my piercing business to Autism research. Any money I get from piercings to the face go to it (nose, eyebrows, lip, etc.). And I have no political affiliations...you get your heart broken so many times, you just stop caring.

Yes, we donate to the Red Cross, Cancer Society, Leukemia, Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and a host of others too long to mention.
This is the type of donating that makes me feel good because we do it out of the goodness of our hearts. Coerced taxation creates bitterness. People don't realize how much of an effect the higher taxation will end up hurting these great causes because people will no longer be able to afford to donate.

Yes, I volunteer my time and contribute my money, and persuade family to give. I volunteer for a local hospice (giving massage), for child abuse prevention, and divas against domestic violence (help with charity events for both). Contribute money to many things. I am willing to give whatever I need to give to make a difference in the world my "political leanings" are very very very complex and do not fit into one box, party

I generally lean more to the conservative side (on issues anyway, I feel very little loyalty to any party or politician).
I generally give through fast offerings that's practiced in my faith. We skip two meals a month, and then give the money we would have spent on food to a fund that 100% helps the needy. They say if everyone did this simple thing, there literally would be no starvation or hunger in the world.

Democrat. We provide camp scholarships for inner city children through our YMCA. We also sponsor various families throughout the holiday season - people leave a list of the things their family needs for the upcoming year - whether it be toys, pots & pans, clothes, educational books . . . We try to sponsor three different families throughout the year. We are also big supporters of toys for tots - I currently have 12 bicycles in my garage and am starting to horde transformers. My husband (besides paying for all of the above, plays in several charity golf tournements throughout the year (not to be charitable though, he's just addicted). We are suckers for anything to do with children . . .

my family and I haven't been able to donate to charity these past couple years.
we used to donate to a center for abused, troubled, and/or abandoned kids (it was similair to a group home), sometimes to the vets, and we turned out a few bucks for the local fire department/police charity.
we also gave away old toys to local charities when we saw one of the ads in the paper
I still make sure 80% of my old clothes go to the salvation army.
