When I put a CD in my CD rom a command prompt pops up and closes on its own and the CD's arent running. I've used them before and now its doing this on all CD's.

Ideas on how to fix it?

Check to make sure that your PC reckognizes your CD rom. If not then the wiring is bad.

If that is not the case then your CD rom may need to be replaced. Not to expensive.

It's also possible that the laser in the CD rom needs to be realigned. Happens with CD players all the time.

Make sure your auto-run configurations are set properly. If they are, then make sure the CD drive appears on My Computer. If it isn't, then make sure all cables are plugged in (DO NOT OPEN THE CASE IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD TRAINING.) If they are all in, then make sure you run Add New Hardware. If it still doesn't work/ doesn't show up, then get a new drive; the old one's shot.
