she told me that she did not like the things that i got for them, and took them back. and she got them things she wanted
this money i spent did not come from there support it came from my pocket!!!

You've already answered your own question "she told me that she did not like the things that i got for them" Okay so you paid for the school supplies out of your pocket, so what's the problem she took the ones you got back and got other's. It's not like she's asking you for MORE money for the supplies she exchanged.

It was a pretty bitc*y thing of her to do - but don't harbor the anger over it - from now on, when you buy things for the twins, make sure they are items for at your house only.

It's psychological warfare. There was probably nothing wrong with the stuff you bought, she just wanted to annoy you and get under your skin. Or, she doesn't realize she's doing it and just thinks you can't do anything right.
