I read the whole book, but who was the non-magic person who did magic for the first time? JK Rowling mentioned that there would be someone who did that but I didn't figure out who it was. Also, why was it important that Harry had his mother's eyes? Thanks so much!

The first answer is that she changed her mind!
From JKR's web chat yesterday:
"Snapedinhalf: You promised that someone will do magic late in life in book 7. I’ve now read it three times but cant work out who it might have been! Please help!!
J.K. Rowling: I’m sorry about this, but I changed my mind! My very earliest plan for the story involved somebody managing to get to Hogwarts when they had never done magic before, but I had changed my mind by the time I’d written the third book."
For the second question, Snape was in love with Lily Evens, and it was the fact that Harry had the same eyes that motivated Snape to help protect Harry, even though Harry otherwise was the image of James, who Snape detested.
As far as the attack on Ariana, I think they just gave her a beating, but specifics are not given.

Well, even if she left it out, it would seem to me that if anyone would have been it, it would have been Harry's aunt Petunia.
It would make sense, after all. She could have rejected to become a witch, or "freak!" as calls them. Being the thing you hate the most would just make her more bitter and distant from her sister, Lily (Harry's mother.)
As for Lily's eyes, people always want to know who the baby looks like. You know, "oh, she's got your eyes, and my cheeks" type of thing. Nothing really important.
Earlier it was mentioned that Harry had his mother's eyes, which was really about the only connection he had with her - being too young to remember her (or his dad) when they were murdered. Harry's son having eyes similar to hers is just a bittersweet reminder for Harry of his mom.

I think she meant Dudley. He is non magical, but his parting from harry was simply...well...magical...it would take magic to make the Dudley we all knew and loathed, part from harry in the manner which he did.
Snape was in love with Lily. Harry's eyes were a constant reminder of the woman he longed for all those years.

Isn't the non-magic person Hermoine? She's a mudblood as was mentioned many times throughout the book. Harry's having his mother's eyes I think is representative of the sacrifice she made for him, which is why he became "The Boy Who Lived".

You really should search for this answer, it's been asked so many times!! but I'll tell you the answer bc I'm nice.
JK Rowling said this long before she started writing Deathly Hallows, when she got to writing it, she changed her mind.
Look in the source!

The fact that harry has his mom's eyes is significant because when Snape dies he says, "look at me..." because in looking at harry, it is like looking at lily one last time before he dies.
