I got my period when I was ten. Girls are getting their periods at a much younger age these days. And where it doesn't sound like you're on a full period, what you are describing sounds like its beginning. When girls first get periods, its very common for them to be light at first. Its also common for them to be very irregular at first too, meaning you may have one that lasts a day or two, then not have another for three months. Everybody is different. Don't be embarrassed to talk to your mother, grandmother, aunt, etc. They've all been there and are more than happy to help you, honey. This doesn't mean you have to turn into an adult now, you can still be a child and do the things kids do. It gets easier to deal with over time. Congrats!

First of all your body changing is natural. I am sure your mom is expecting this to happen. You need to tell her. You have given all the tell tale signs it might be a period. When you tell your mom, not only will she lend you a pad...or two) she will also set up an appointment with a gyno. These are the first stages of growing into a woman. Not to mention if the spot is not a period then you will need to be checked out. Don't be frightened about it, it is completely natural. Before ya know it your friends will be asking the same questions only YOU will be able to give them advise when remembering your first menstrual.

If you keep getting that same reddish-brownish mark in your underwear for the next couple of days, then yeah, you did get your period. If you really don't know or can't tell, ask your mom about it and show her [yeah, sounds kind of gross, but it's your mom, she's seen lots of stuff come out of you so it's okay].
If you're too embarassed [like I was!] wait and see if it happens again next month. If you did get your period, it should happen about 28 days from the first time you noticed the mark.

I would say, Yes. You have started your.period. No need to be embarrassed about it as this is part of becoming a young woman. Tell your Mom, trust me, she's aware that this day was to come. Plus, she can advise you on what to expect now that you have reached this point in your life. Congrats and Good Luck.

why are you scared your mom will notice? she will understand that you need a pad and obviously let you have one. also, that doent really sound like it was a period unless you just got that starting today or yesterday or whatever. periods usually last around 5 - 7 days, but because you might just be starting, it wont be regular. it might be a period, and i know it mught be embarassing, but talk to your mom about it. she will know about these things. or go see a doctor, its their job to help with stuff like this so try not to feel too akward about it.

It seems like you have. The best thing to do is to get one before it goes everywhere. Then when your mom gets home just let her know, Im sure she wont mind. And if she is home, just let her know now. Since your mom got hers when she was eleven your bound for getting it, so I think this was the time. I got mine a year before my mom too.
Congrats, good luck.

That is a definite possibility. I experienced the same thing when I was 9 y/o. We are known as early bloomers. Read up on it yourself. Have you looked on-line. Make sure you talk to your parents and go see your doctor.
Best of luck

umm...i think its normal to get discharge..i think. i am not an expert. However, you will know when you have your period. It will actually look like blood. however, all girls are different. if you are unsure about what the discharge is, ask your doctor, mom, or family member like a sister or someone.

Personally, when I got mine, it was alot. Everywhere in my underwear. If it continues, then it is. When you wiped did you see blood? If not and it doesn't continue, you could just have a cut.
