well i think that a succesful teacher is the one teacher that can talk to his students like they are friends and explain to them whatever they need to know.patience is the key to succes,or so i've heard.anyway a good teacher always should keep in mind that he has a great mission ,the one of modeling young minds. hope it helps..at least that's what i've heard

A successful teacher really cares about his students. He tells stories or jokes when the class is sleepy, and if they haven't understood the concept yet, he'll teach them again, in a different way. His exams and quizzes are tough, because he doesn't want memorized facts. He wants the student to apply the concepts--think. Students don't always like this, but they walk away having learned a lot and having met an exceptional man.

I am a really bad speller! Yet I have two degrees in English and I think I am a good teacher.
I think a good teacher plans schemes of work carefully so that lessons are interesting, relevant and fun. I try to make students laugh and enjoy my lessons.
I also think that a good teacher makes students feel safe. Although I want the students to enjoy the lessons I make sure that no student is made fun of or made to feel threatened. I achieve this by having very clear boundaries.

1. Must love kids.
2. Must be patient
3. Must understand that not every child learns the same way. It doesn't mean one is necessarily slower than the next, it's just that some kids are visual learners while others are verbal (you tell them something they get it).
4. Understand somekids like to be praised for their efforts (verbal good job, pat on the back), while others like to be rewarded (sticker star).
5. Never tell the student what he did wrong; tell him how to do it right. There is a difference. The former is negative reinforcement, the latter is positive. It makes a huge difference in their self esteem and how they perceive their own success.
Good luck!

In being a successful teacher, one must understand that mistakes will be made in order for you to perfect your success. You must have a STRONG classroom management skills...which is the way you organize and run your classroom. Be sure the kids know that you are the boss and provide them with the structure that they need. Document, document, and document. When planning a lesson, be sure that your students are engaged...and don't be afraid to re-teach. I wouldn't suggest being their 'friend' -remember they are just kids. Someone has to be the adult and set boundaries for them.
