Final fantasy 1,2,3,4.... are video games.
Advent children was a spin-off from FF7, probabaly the most popular.

If you wanted to play them;
FF7, 8 and 9 are for the playstation 1 (and probably quite hard to find)
FF10 and 12 are PS2
FF11 is an online only game for PS2, PC and Xbox
FF1 to 6 have all recently been re-released for either the Gameboy advance or PSP.
They are all similar in style but have different stories and characters. (i.e. it doesn't matter what order you play them.)
Though, the later ones are considered better.

As said before there are only TWO movies, what you are reffering to may actually be the games, there are a number of entries in the final fantasy series and advent children is based off of the seventh iteration of the final fantasy chronicles. The first few American versions of the final fantasy games are slightly older and on Nintendo and Super Nintendo prospectively. If you are interested in story you could always play Final Fantasy X (ten) on the Play Station 2 which is very popular for it's scenes and plot.
