Obviously, the brick or dead weight tied to the end of the rope can pose problems-like damaging the roof, siding or windows. Try using a telescoping painter's pole to extend the hooped rope end over the roof. Move to the other side and then fish the rope down further with the pole. Stay clear of power lines.

Tie a length of light string to an arrow and shoot it over the roof after making sure there is nothing - no-one in the way, use the string to pull over some cord, then try a clothes line, then the wire. A man I knew tried fastening a rope to a hammer and throwing it over the roof... it cost him a new bedroom window..................

Stand on the windy side and let a kite fly over. Tie the rope on to the end of the kite string and pull it the rest of the way. The lines on kites are very thin but often very strong and long. It is also not heavy enough to damage the roof. It the kite line is not strong enough, dental floss can hold a decent weight.

I have done this just recently.
I borrowed a long ladder that reached to the roof.
I tied a length of twine to the heavier rope.
Threw the twine over and with the help of a friend, got the rope over the roof without damaging any tiles.

Tie one end of some fishing line to a tennis ball, tie the other end to the rope. Throw the tennis ball over the house, then pull the rope over with the fishing line.

and why would you want a wire to be on top of your roof?

no, bring the wire around the house, or punch a hold in the house and then string it thru the insulation and to the other part of the house and then put an opening there.
