Different people have different purposes for being on this world. They may choose to put us down but I believe that Karma will bet the best of them. The only thing we can do is be positive ourselves and do the best we can being who we are.
They also serve as a reminder that we still have a lot of work ahead of us if we want equality. We may have visibility and they may be threatened by it. We are going to have to fight that much harder for our equality! Thanks for asking!

Please don't lump hetero's into a big ugly group. Many are bigoted- I think because of ignorance. I myself am a married, heterosexual catholic and I don't believe homosexuality is a sin. I don't think it is that big of a deal, personally. I know that all hetero/christians do not share my view, but I say, if it's love, it's never wrong. I've been a member of the theatre community where coming out isn't a big deal to co-workers and friends, so perhaps I'm "enlightened" a little more than the average person. We just need to stop trying to put cultural groups into big boxes, and just get on with it! I support you all the way.

I am straight, and I don't feel that I put down the LGBT community, just don't understand it, that's all.
People will put others down, simply because they are different. Your different, so you will get those people who don't know, and don't like it, because your not like them. The black, asians, etc, they get bashed too, just because they are different. No one is better than anyone else.
I think a lot of it too, has to do with fear. Guys may fear another guy is checking them out, or flirting with them.
Being Transgendered might be too weird for people. Lesbian the same way. Bi's, to me is just have the best of both worlds, however, I couldn't see myself with another guy, so I know its not for me, however, bashing it is not something I would waste my time doing.
So, if that is your thing, live the life you have, and hopeully people will accept you for who you are, and not what they think you are.

It's very easy for someone hiding behind a computer screen to voice inflammatory opinions and beliefs that they wouldn't dare voice anywhere else.
. They know that if they uttered some of the things that are posted here (and on some other forums I visit) out loud, face to face with the people they're abusing, they'd get beaten to a pulp.
It's easy to be brave and outspoken when you know there's no risk to you.

I am a heterosexual and sadly, I must agree with you. I come on here for two reasons. First, I am actively supportive of equal rights and acceptance for all people. Second, I am a big fan of intelligent conversation and ideas. this seems to be the best place for that once you cull out the hateful stuff.

The same reason atheist haunt the religion and spirituality.
People have a deep need to express themselves. If a society suppress that i.e. hateful LGBT's that try to chase folks away, then it will be expressed in other ways.
Don't you think it better for a real bigot to get it out here rather than wait for you as you leave a bar, or school?
Now Christians are another matter. If I had a great treasure that I valued most of all that saves me from many of the trials and suffering that others subject themselves to, I too would wish to share it with others.
Sometimes they just suck in delivery. I too fall prey to bad delivery sometimes.

There are those people who realize their opinion is just another opinion.... and we like them.
Then we have the people who think their opinion is a fact. We try to ignore them.
The worst of the lot... the jerks who come on here and think their opinion is the law and the mouthpiece of all religious interpretations.

It's much to say about people that feel they need to put other people down. They have such low self-worth, they most likely want to take other people that they deem as an easy target... gays and attempt to lower our self-worth. They don't understand that we live the same life as they do, we just have more fun.
9 out of 10 of them are closeted any how.

It is very strange that "heterosexuals" would spend so much time here
I am not a christian and I really don't like most christians and I think most christians are going to hell but I don't spend any time over in R&S
so why would they come over here?

Because they have sad and pathetic lives and need to feel better about putting down people that they can find others to put down with.
Some of them believe in an afterlife where they finally won't feel as insignificant/ugly/poor/uneducated/inferior to others, and in fact, will be in the God's elite because they obeyed Him in this life. They just want to remind all of us that we're going to Hell, and they aren't, unless we start believing the stuff they believe.
It's the same reason a dirt-poor Palestinian kid straps on a bomb belt and blows himself up in a crowded cafe'. "God's gonna take care of you if......"
