I had the exact same problem with my hp pavilion dv4000. I used the twist option for a couple of months (sometimes lasting 2 hours to get it working and I needed to add counterweights and stuff like that). A few day ago my computer started smoking and a little fire erupted. I unplugged it and sent if back to the store, they will fix it for free.

I will be without my laptop for 4 weeks now. If you can't miss it that long, try adding a heavy vase or *** trey right on the little thing that goes into the computer, after you twisted it the right way, it takes some time to master but it worked for day (if you didn't touch the wire).

I've had that same exact problem a couple of years ago. The problem with mine, was that there was a short in the connectivity between the laptop and the battery. It sounds like the reason that you have to twist the cable is because it is positioning the battery a sertain way to where it is making a connection. I highly doubt that it is the cable or the battery itself. You are not geting a full connection.

That a problem withthe charger. I would suggest you to talk to the HP customer care and then send it for repair.
