I think that the pelvis came before Elvis, because if Elvis came before the pelvis then Elvis would have no pelvis. What do you think?

Elvis came first...he 'borrowed' his songs and his dances from African American singers of the day.
"Borrowing" songs was quite common in the 1950's. An African American singer/group would have a popular song but it would not be available to white American culture so a white singer/group would re-record the song. Elvis' first big hit , the 1956 "Hound Dog" was first recorded in 1952 by African American singer Willie Mae "Big Momma" Thorton.
