In the UK, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) rates films, videos and some games. A PG film means:

"Parental Guidance - General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children

Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children."

Some cinemas may choose not to allow children to go in to a PG film without an adult because of safety and supervision issues. But I doubt very much this would be the case if you're coming up to 16 (as you could go to see a 12A or 15 alone) and want to take your brother.

If you're in the US, the MPAA says

A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.

The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.

I couldn't find out if it's ok for children to go without an accompanying adult, but you could check it out on:

No.

All ages are admitted to a PG movie. The rating suggests that parents may want to consider whether or no to allow their children to see it.

All ages are admitted to a 'pg' cert film. It means parental guidance not a restriction.

if i'm not mistaken pg means those who are 7 to 12 needs someone who is 13 or over to be with them. i think below 6 are not allowed.

the only ratings that require you to be a certain age are R and NC-17. as far as i know, all ages are admitted to pg and pg13 movies--the ratings are more like guidelines than actual rules--to quote a movie pirate.

why are most answers on here by idiots?

the child would need to be with a parent. or someone that can prove they are the parent.

this is why it is called parental guidence
