Fashion advisers will always tell you that traditionally jeans or any pants for that matter should always break across your instep (this applies to women too).
This means they should hit the highest part of your foot (for those of you who don't know where your instep is, it's the highest point at which your foot arches) and wrinkle or fold just a little. This allows the hem to fall about halfway down the heel of your shoe, which is appropriate. If the jeans only just brush the top of your foot they will ride up when you move or bend, and appear to be too short.
If you are really thin, then do not get jeans cut too loose as regular cut jeans will already look loose on you, Relaxed fit jeans may appear too baggy. If you aren't a rapper or gansta' then you don't want this look
Remember, many sales people are paid bonuses or commissions so it is in their best interest to tell you that everything looks good on you. Bring a trusted friend who a-always looks very stylishly dressed, male or female and b-has told you before what NOT to wear. They will be most honest with you.
Go get 'em tiger!

They think it looks cool. A little baggy is okay because it looks better and I'm sure it's much more comfortable that having tight jeans on. But when you can see half their underwear, it think it's pretty funny. I have to laugh when I see guys running from the cops on TV. I've seen a few clips where their pants fell all the way down, and they were tackled like that. How embarrassing. You think they would learn after an experience like that!

1] buy jeans so they fit at or very slightly below waist [ right above hip bones ]- make sure they fit your behind, and pockets are not so low your butt looks flat.
2] jeans should touch the top of your foot, and be approximately 1/2 inch off the ground at the heel.
TIP: do pushups, situps, and some aerobics 3 x a week, so you stay trim - lean guys tend to gain weight in their bellies!

Joe's Jeans makes a Brixton fit for men which is a skinny leg with a Rocker flare. Or if you want jeans that are confortable and lose I would try either the Classic Fit or the Rebel Fit. I think you should check it out they have many styles and sizes for every height!! http://www.jeans.com
