My son is 6 weeks old and was nursed for his first four weeks. He's now on Enfamil w/Iron and only poops about every 2.5-3 days. He always passes gas so I don't think he's constipated but my family is all worried and says that I should call the doc bc he doesn't have bowel movements that often.

Sometimes he'll cry when he does poop, and sometimes he doesn't. The consistency is that of paste so it's not hard.

I don't know. He goes to the doc on Mon. but I want to know if this is something I should be concerned about?

As long as he is passing the soft stools with no real difficulty, he is not constipated, no matter how often he goes. I would def bring it up at the dr but you don't have anything to worry about.

As long as he didnt have blood in his stood, it sure be fine. All babies are different. If he always poop like that, then maybe that is how he is. My son have the same kind of problem when he transfer from breast milk to Enfamil. The doctor suggest to let him drink juice mix with water everyday. And the problem solve. So, ask the doc too.

Breast milk is so digestible that it is normal for a breast fed baby to on;y pooh once every several days to poohing multiple times in one day and the consistency is usually very soft with just an eggy smell.
However formula milk is is like food and usually baby does one stool a day which is firmer than a breast fed baby would do and smells like pooh.
If you are at all unsure you should check with your doctor or health worker at least for your own peace of mind.

Normal. Don't worry. Just talk to the doc on Mon. if you are concerned. Just wait. When he starts to eat babyfood, he will become a poop machine.

mine did only once a day and i was scared because the books said it was suppose to be 3-4 times a day. My doc told me as long as she keeps her schedule she is fine. So as long as yours goes consistantly every 2-3 days, that is his schedule.

confident. that's wide-spread because of the fact as quickly as each and every of the nutrition is digested it of course has to bypass someplace and since the canine is youthful it would not have the capacity and power to hold this is waste longer than a jiffy yet whilst the canine gets slightly older then it is going to hold it lots longer. satisfied i ought to help!
