Hi, the easiest way to clean any unfiltered tank is to keep an extra tank filled with water set up in the same room as the tank that is housing your fish. Then each day all you have to do is just move your fish from the old container into the new one; no fuss no muss. Then just rinse out the old bowl, fill it with clean water, and you are ready to go the next day. I have used this system for tanks as large as ten gallons, and for large numbers of smaller tanks ranging in size from one pint to one gallon. Remember, if there isn't a filter in your tank, you have to become the filter, so it is imperative to do tank maintenance. Happy fish keeping... Patricia

If your betta is in a bowl or large tank...(but not large enough to use a gravel vac) I use a turkey baster to get all the "crap" from the bottom lol, this works great cuz it doesn't disturb the fish, I don't have to net them & cause undue stress. Once I got the bottom clean I just use a clean plastic cup to remove some more water (baster will take forever lol) and wolla....clean tank :)

bettas are more easier than goldfish, they are known for being tolerant for most conditions. best way is to put it in a container filled with water, water that was conditioned is the best. then you can either clean the betta bowl with water and get rid of the debris underneath the gravel. and last thing and most important one would be the temperature of the water , be sure to make it moderately warm.

Change the water every 2-4 days. The new water should be let stand 24 hours to clear the chlorine. Scrup the tank with salt whenever it gets grungy.

Fizzy tabs are not necessary. You just need to dechlorinate the water. Bettas need their tanks cleaned just as often as other fish do.

it depends on how you clean the goldfish tank.

no. you have to get fizzy tabs because betas need it to survive. they are called bowl buddies. otherwise cleaning is the same but once you have new water in you need to put in the bowl buddies.
