For sure. The LCS used to be 5 also and that proved most unsatisfying. To start the post-season with a 5 game series adds that element of chance to too great a degree. Even if they shortened the season to 160 games it would be better. 7 is pretty much the settled upon length of a post-season series.

I don't think so that MLB can extend the Division Series to best of seven because the division series isn't very important for people watch that kind of series. Most people are interested to watch the Conference Series because they want to see two teams are fight in Conference Series to see who win the Conference title. The MLB wants the season be done by late October or early November as can into the offseason for free agents, trade, and meetings. In November, people across America need to watch the NFL games.

Yes. It's already not fair that, if the WC is in the same division as first place record that they don't play each other. It's very unfair to work that hard and get screwed by dumb rules. Get rid of some of these spring training games to compensate for the added games. Two more games added onto the division series is not too much to ask. It's not that major.

If anything, I'd cut games. I'd make the Wild Card and Div play-offs a straight knock out game, team with best record gets home field advantage) keep the CS and and the WS as is. The players are always complaining they have to play too many games and the travel complications. Under the current system, it would help improve the ratings for the CS and WS. A whole month of play-offs is far too much.

The season is already so long at 162 games. Why make it even longer? A team needs to play a minimum of 11 games win the WS and a max of 17. It already is a long playoff set.

No but I heard that they might change the World Series to a best of 9, with the 2 extra games taking place in a neutral location

That would give us November baseball. In places like Boston, Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit, that could get unpleasant. I think we have to leave the division series at 5 games

I don't believe you need seven games in the Division Series. Five is enough and we don't need to extend the season into mid October.

no way. there isnt enough time in the season to play two extra games, because thats 2 days + another travel day
and say a team sweeps while their next opponent has a series go into 7 games. that means the team that finished early has to wait even longer!!
not enough time, too much travel, etc etc
i say stick with the 5-7-7 format
