Makes me think that we are just not meant to be exploring out there... "No escaping gravity... not for free"

Let alone the laws of physics that "currently" prevent us from further exploration. =<

Ah, the ol' "if man were meant to fly, he'd have wings" argument.

Physical limitations are overcome all of the time. We travel faster than running speed because we've used our understanding of the physical world to allow us to. We fly despite the irony of not have natural ability to do so. Each time we push the physical limits, we have worries that we are violating some sort of natural law.

Neither the existance of gravity nor the shape of the world is a "sign" of irrevocable limitations. They are simply part of the universe.

You are talking like the universe is a conscious being that thought "Man, I'm gonna make huge balls of matter and create a force that holds things to massive objects so in a couple billion years it'll be damn hard for life to go around exploring me."

well no I don't think it's ironic. THe center is "our grounding" and the gravity pull is the same all the way around, thus we can explore in every direction.

If the earth was flat, it would not make sense for people to live at the edges..
Gravity is to allow segmentation and order..
but as with all things, laws can be defied, within reason.

Out there, i presume you mean outer space? We can't escape gravity in general. Our milky way is swirling in a circle clung together by gravity. Either that, or we're being slowly sucked in to a massive black hole.

The Earth is more or less round because of gravity.

No. We wouldn't exist without it, as if there's some god doing this anyway. I'm sure we're not meant to eat, else we'd just have the food in our mouths all the time..

Man wasn't meant to swim, neither. That didn't stop us from crossing oceans.

Curiosity killed the cat......satisfaction brought him back!!!! How would you like to go....quietly in your bed or in rapture? Necessity is the mother of invention; perhaps we need what we seek.

its only depends on your way of thinking.
if you think its flat, no one can make you believe its round.

another words thought fits only in box...try to think outside of that mental box
