With animals? Head out to college, get the education and see where it brings you, small business management etc.. Horses are not worth &(*(& now days, sure a good horse at a certain discipline is and tb breeders make a good living, ones that have a name and been in the business for a while, but breaking into the industry is not easy. A Vet or farrier leaves little time to enjoy the farm. Honestly, there is no money here unless you can carry your self for years to come while you try to "break" into business and your selected field. Go get a good job, a normal job, get $$ invested into your social security account and do some other investing. So you can enjoy yourself in retirement. Making money with horses is tough and most jobs with them are not going to provide you with many, if any, benefits.

Have you considered applying for a grant to supply horse riding to children with cerebral palsy and other disorders of that type? You would get to work with horses and children and also to make money helping people.
Also, have you thought about growing Pick Your Own fruits and veggies? My grandpa made a nice little killing doing PickYourOwn. He said the only drawback was when people brought young kids and they wasted food, so he put in a little playground. Using the playground was free, but taking your kids into the garden was an extra $20, refundable if they didn't destroy anything or waste any food.
My friend David says you can make good money by writing reports about what you know. Perhaps you could write reports on animal care. Just a thought.
Best wishes.

i don't know about a lot of money, but some. if you haven't been working on a farm or don't have much experience, the percentage of you failing is about 60%. first you need to assist in everday things and practice side-by-side with the farm owner/manager so you know what your doing. horses are big money animals and if you do something wrong you could be in big trouble! lawsuits, civil disputes, you name it! go to a class about ownership and if you really want to run a farm, preferabbly horses, get in on horse stuff. you need to know how to handle, care, ride, and manage. them.

Your best bet is a home business or Internet business, but there is no easy money out there, except perhaps whoring or stripping, and I don't know how you do that on a farm.
