Great question!
In fact we live in a very dynamic and materialistic world.
Being kind it is the easiest thing for me personally. It is within me.
But what happens when you live in a society that don't appreciate kindness? inf fact when you are kind most of the people ( those who run after money , social position...) see that as your weakness. So in that case you feel like a fool and say I will never smile or be kind to those people.
Still there are some people who respond to your kindness. But unfortunately there are few. You have to deal with the fact that you are surrounded by cold people. And what about the good people? umm, I guess you must pass the whole universe to find kind and good people.
:)

I think that LOVE itself is missing in this world. There are too many people hating others. I love you all I love Money I love my car I love my family I love my friends I lam in-love with my wife, husband, partner etc. It would be so nice for people to say what they mean when they love someone. It's none committing, it builds friendships, it keeps relationships between partners going. So, as for it's actual word being lost, no, but love itself yes. God Bless. I always say to my son before he goes to bed when he comes for a cuddle 'I love you' for I mean it. I love you all. God loves us all.

No it has not. I have been asking that and getting good feedback. Kindness just doesn't get noticed as much as the bad. I ask questions based on kindness, loving and caring and usually the answers are great. Yes, it does start here and that's why I do it. Also have contacts who do the same and it does wonders.
Have a great day and keep smiling!

I agree with you. It's b/c society is self-serving so much....it just gets worse and worse, until, if we have to wait a half a second extra, in our way-too-busy schedule, for a muffin at a coffee shop, we chew out the worker, as if it's their fault that we're overscheduling, and stressed out....
I hope someone smiles at you today, and wishes you a nice day.

How about self-reliance and personal responsibility? Nothing in life will be handed to you on a silver platter. I might sympathize with single mothers on welfare and the homeless but still I am not one of these people who sits around wondering how to get money instead of going out and earning it. Some people are more successful than others not because of perceived privilege, money and contacts but because of education, intelligence, ambition, personality, hard work, talent and dedication.
Some people will always do better than others. Still, we perceive that there is no room at the top and do not take chances when there is plenty of opportunity and success out there for everyone.
It's the 'loser' mentality vs. the 'winner' mentality. I used to have that. You learn to see yourself as a victim and don't realize that it's something about yourself. I am not writing about putting up with bad treatment and lousy bosses who don't pay you. You can walk out on them. Nobody deserves that. Take the hospitality industry. They treat people like dirt.

Technology has made it easier for us to be "unkind" simply by omission.
The loss (or serious reduction) of social interaction puts us in an electronic cocoon where we fail to exercise and nurture the kindness that is within all of us.
And you KNOW what happens without exercise!

I think most people have the half empty mentality and don't recognize or appreciate the smallest act of kindness and then they expect that there will be no kindness and they get what they expect

yes, in fact i question if the meaning ever existed. There are very few people who can claim that they practice the theory of kindness. Kindness takes effort, and people are lazy and inattentive.
