Because this generation just wants to play video games and have everything handed to them on a silver platter. So the universities are empty, they need to fill seats, so they have no choice but to lower the standards to fill seats.

It's all about economics. Supply > Demand. (supply is greater than demand).

No child left behind has to do with K-12 not Universities. Perhaps the backwards thinking of Universities that if you TRY and educate more people by lowering admissions standards it will some how have an effect which is entirely not the case.

I don't know which universities you're talking about because I got a great education.....at a private university. In my opinion, public universities in the US are the ones which are affected the most by the political and social environment in this country. Because private universities are mainly privately funded, they have more freedom with the administrative and operational aspects---where it becomes more like running a successful business and where emphasis is placed on adding greater value to the student.

It seems that the majority of kids today do not care about education! They would rather destroy their brain cells, seem most don't want to learn. To fill up our colleges they have to lower standards!

Our education sucks because the people in charge don't want us to be smart people. If everyone was capable of critical thinking, then these people wouldn't be in charge and that scares them.
