I moved away from where I grew up when I was 27 (with my hubby). That was almost 19 years ago (I'm about to turn 46). We have lived in 4 states and 6 different cities since then. This summer we will move to our 5th state and 7th city. The longest we have been somewhere was 8 years and I thought of that place as home more than where I grew up. Some of the other places we weren't there much more than a year or two, so we just passed through. We have been where we are currently for just over 5 years and it was feeling like home. I hope this next move is permanent (that is our plan). You do adjust to moving and some places do feel like home, especially if you are there long enough and if the place 'fits' you. I have learned something from every place that we have lived and I made sure we explored the area while we were there. I also learned that we can adapt to almost anywhere.

When I first got married - we moved about 400 miles away. I was still in Texas - but went from a major big city to a very small town that didn't even have ANY STOPLIGHTS. But I fell in love with the town and the people there were wonderful. In fact when my husband retires, we would love to move back there - we both have lots of fond memories!!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter moved from New Mexico to Utah and also to Hawaii. I think I was more home sick for her than she was for us. I think that she had some wonderful - as well as stressful - experiences, but I believe that she is so much stronger for taking the chances!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't make the move, you will always have the questions of -if, ands and buts. It is important that you make that move - you will learn so much about yourself. I am rooting for you.
Good luck and God bless.
