Well if you meant to say hypocritical bastards (D@mn, I gotta clean up my vocabulary!) then you are quite close to the truth.
Yes we are. Not all of course, but WAY more then half of us. And... tell you one more secret: *in a very low voice so nobody will hear me*: It's not our fault... it actually is not our fault... We are actually born with great qualities, no inclination towards cheating (again, not all of us), respectful, chivalrous... top of the game. But life is interesting and everyone (sooner or later) meets the 'bad girl' - EVERYONE meets her. And every guy gets played or screwed up by the 'bad girl' at least once (yay, it happened to me twice already - can you imagine - 'I' let it happen
Now such an experience makes him realize that being too nice is not gonna get him anywhere, so he changes his way of being. He ADAPTS so that 'HE' will never be hurt again - all emotions are inhibited, and this actually IS possible.
So there you have it: The reasons, the story, the consequences. That's how we are, that's how life is, that's how this world works.
(English is not my primary language so this answer might make perfect sense to me, but I'm not sure if it does to you. Hope it does.)
