Would it be okay to take my 2 1/2 year old my 8 year old to this movie. It is the only movie I can see taking them to right now.

Hi Bridget.
Simpsons, the movie, is rated PG-13 movie, which mean it is aproppriate for 13 or other. And here are some other facts:

Sex & Nudity
Contains some mild innuendo and a brief depiction of Bart's genitals as he skateboards naked across Springfield (as a series of obstacles conceal his genital area, they are briefly unconcealed). Contains one brief scene of two male police officers kissing each other.

Violence
Contains occassional mild animated violence throughout the movie.

Profanity
Contains mild language (e.g. "***," "bastard," "god damn")

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking
Contains one brief depiction of drug use towards the end of the movie. (Otto lights up a bong), however this will probably be lost on the younger crowd.
hugs.

No because there a a few "bad" things! And also I had to sit next to a 2 year old while watching it and I almost went nuts! I wish parents would learn about mommy matinees... or babysitters....
It's not a kids movie, it's the simpsons!
What about that new disney movie instead?

Probably.

There is the newly famous scene of Bart's "doodle" which is very brief, however our family doesn't teach that nudity is something shameful so that may be a matter for your family. There is some cartoony violence (which is actually milder than in the TV show), one curse word and one blatant drug reference in the movie.

On the other hand, there is a great message about helping others and love.

I wouldn't take the 2.5 year old - I just don't think he\she would enjoy it. I am on the fence on the 8 year old. There are some mature themes but they will probably fly over his\her head.

SPOILERS
that depends upon what you feel is acceptable material. What probably gives the movie it's rating are these:

-Marge has a scene where she yells "g0d d@mn"
-we DO see Bart's privates for a brief second (again, cartoon)
-although Homer only has 4 fingers, but he does 'flip the middle finger'

I think all of it woz gud, the dare contest, spiderpig, the ending etc, it woz hilarious, lol. I think the episodes r beta, more of a variety 2 watch instead of 1 movie 2 watch all the time.

With the exception of seeing Bart's 'doodle' it is perfectly okay to take them.
