What information could be potentially kept secret, away from the majority of mankind?

In Japanese language there is no such sound as "La-Lu-Li-Le-Lo"(fact) -MGS

And if ever... you somehow get hold of these secret/sacred information... no ones going to believe you... they'll all think youre crazy anyway..

ie.
UFO, "i" say prototype USAF aircraft... "they" say aliens.

(lol at me xD)

Not quite sure what you're asking here. Are you asking if it's possible to use intellectual property laws to keep some knowledge from mankind? I don't think it is, since patents are open to public inspection.

IP laws aside, it's pretty hard to keep knowledge away from the masses, but it has happened. Research into chemical, biological & nuclear weapons comes to mind. A lot of it ends up leaking out anyway, or being discovered independently, but it's not like you could go to a local library to find out how to breed a weapons-grade strain of anthrax.

There's no such thing as a secret, it's only an illusion.

As long as one person knows the info, it's no longer a secret. Secrets are a myth.

The closest we can get to any secret information, is to simply learn something that's not known to anyone else, but as long as you know it, it's not a secret ;)
