That was probably info from a chainmail that was going around. I got one too from my friend. It said that on August 27th Mars was going to be the closest it's ever been to Earth, but it said nothing about it be only 34 mils away!
I wish Mars was only 34 miles away.. I would like to go and visit sometime without having to pay a wad for a spaceship. :)

My dear girl - you'd be surprised how stupid people can be. I once saw a question on here asking "what is it a sin to kill - according to Atticus Finch - in the famous novel by Harper Lee?" . I believe I cried that day.

Ohhhh... I dunno. You assume that the asker isn't a kid. Ask *most* kids how far the moon is they'll say, "Far, far away." Ask the same group of kids how far China is they'll say, "Far, far away."
(I realize, btw, that China is more than 37 miles away.)
