Yeah, since there's a good percentage of people on welfare that do drugs and use their cash assistance to get them. I'm not so sure about student loans...that's something we have to pay back, so why would there be a need? Maybe grants, and on occasion, because some kids do waste this percious money, too. Elected officials, hell yeah, but we should also give them lie detector test, too to see if they really do/plan to do what they say during elections, after they're in office, etc.
While we're at it, why not CEO's of major businesses and sports officials?
It should be required for almost everything, at least once a year, and at random. That might help with the US drug problem.
Good thoughts, my man,good thoughts.

I think that officials should be tested-they represent us and unfortunately do enough damage without drugs! HA! As for food stamps-they do limit what you get with them so my main change would be background checking and current abilities to retrain and/or work. Student loans and grants should be in a form that could go more directly to the schools and colleges I think. At least most of it-My son just got hired by Walmart-he went thru 3 interviews and a drug test-thats more than any other place he went and probably more than most businesses-if you have nothing to hide-why not?
PS-what about the trucking companies?

Absolutely. Random drug testing should be done. I think that over 50% of Welfare cases are under the influence of some kind of drug. But there are the select few that really need the help. What are your thoughts on only helping Americans and not all the illeagals that move here just for our welfare system?

I agree with the food stamp part, Only because I know of people trying to trade food stamps for drugs. The rest is the persons own business. I don't understand the student loan part of your question. Those are paid back.

Welfare and Foodstamps I can somewhat agree with you, but Student Loans and Grants?

I don't think that is necessary, I think that is being a little extreme and that you have to qualify for Grants and you have to pay back student loans anyways.

Not everyone that wants to go to college can afford it on their own, trust me I am still paying back a student loan.

Your idea makes perfect sense, which is why it has no chance of ever becoming reality in our PC dominated culture. Why I will bet in the time it took you to type the question some welfare deadbeat somewhere traded some food stamps for meth while the hungry baby cried in the background and a politician somewhere lectured the productive people of the world that they need to "give back to the community."

Every elected official receives tax payer based salaries and pensions for life. That is the upper end of life on the tax payers dole. Test every elected official in city, county, state and federal government employee. They live their entire lives off the tax dollars of Americans. Time they be help to drug testing as well, like every 90 days at random times.

sounds good, but what is the incentive to add cost. think of the increased cost involved,it would most likely come out of our pocket. companies recieve a tax break for the drug testing or hiring people that were on welfare(even if the aren't on welfare at the time of hiring). it is not much different than affirmative action

Actually, if you've been convicted of a drug charge you can't get federal student loans or grants. It does make perfect sense to drug screen those on welfare to limit the freeloaders. Good point.

Absolutely but then we should have medical coverage that works as well as doctors who offer real and effective cures and drugs that work... instead of a medical system that perpetuates itself by so much churning... and stupid proceedures like gastric bypass and rehabs that do little etc...and gyms. lol dont people remember what walking with a purpose till you build up a good sweat is all about?
A big part of our societies ills revovle around the fact that we dont get what we pay for.
