2 months ago i would have agreed, and i still agree with the witch hunt investigations that are wasting tax payers dollars, but i think they have started to do as promised.
the house has passed the entire 100 hour agenda, and things got tied up in the senate, but within the last 1-2 months, the senate has finally started passing things:
#1. they have passed a min wage increase
#2. they have passed funding for the 911 commission recommendations
#3. they passed stem cell funding (which was veteod)
#4. they have passed the cutting of interest rates on student loans.
(they=both house and senate)
however, they have unilaterally failed on the 'no new pork spending'.
on the witch hunts. they have an issue with trying to make president bush look as bad as he can, and this is simply politics. This is the same with republicans and president clinton. they wasted something like $330 million trying to impeach him, and although, technically, they were right, it was a waste of money. BUT, this is the job of the congress. they must investigate all suspected abuses by th executive branch.
that is the power granted to them in the constitution. although, many of us do not like it, thats their job.
a side note.
im not a liberal or conservative. I vote for the person who shares my views... i do not look for the (D) or (R) when voting.

"The Republican-led Congress acheived much more!"
Boy...they sure did!
They got us into this quagmire called "Iraq".
They placed our troops:
1. in harms way;
2. without adequate troop strength;
3. without proper resources;
4. without proper protection...(shall I go on?)
They really did a lot to help out the Gulf States following Hurricane Katrina!
And the Republican-led Congress sure did a lot of VERY important investigations into former President Bill Clinton's' sexual habits!
Hoo-eee!
Yeppers...them Republicans sure did a number on the American people!
Just grab your ankles, because those conservative boys in Congress are ready to stand and deliver one more time!
(Thank you sir, may I have another?)

Answer: Yes! The dems Know that they could never actually pass their socialistic campaign promises...So they put on political circus in an attempt to CON America into perceiving that the "other guys", even though the majority of the population in theory support those other guys ideology, are not as good as they are.
Could you imagine having your ethics challenged by a murderer or an admitted war criminal...that is happening daily to conservative senators!

The Republican Congress during Clinton's terms did very little besides to accuse Clinton of one thing after another and investigate him. They spent $100 million dollars of the taxpayers' money investigating 'crimes' supposedly committed by Clinton, $57 million of that being spent by Ken Starr alone. They accused him of everything from treason to drug dealing to murder to rape. None of these charges even produced enough evidence for an indictment, but they kept repeating this long laundry-list of charges even after they'd been discredited, and adding new phony charges all the time.
All they found was the stain on the dress. And they impeached him for that even though they knew they didn't have the votes to remove him from office, just for spite, just as 'political circus'. Clinton's popularity ratings reached their highest during the impeachment and never fell below 55% after that.
I don't approve of a president committing adultery in the Oval Office, but it pales in significance when compared to a president starting a war based on lies, firing US attorneys because they weren't partisan enough, declaring himself above the laws that he himself signed, suborning torture and suspending habeas corpus.

No, vote the remaining old geysers out in 2008 and fill it with more outstanding young Democrats , not a bunch of old foggy Geysers Republicans .

I live in a heavily Republican district so I can't help out. Many of these Democrats weren't elected because they could do the job; it was only because they criticized Bush so much, and gullible people believed them. When they got in we found out they couldn't do a good job.

Sorry.
I would rather have a Congress that does nothing than a Congress led by a party responsible for putting the current occupant in the White House.
And investigations that you term "petty", I would define as, "about f***ing time."

If you've been paying attention, they can't do the 'people's businees' if Bush vetoes all their bills.
Also, if you consider making our gov't bloated and wasteful, then yes, the Repubs did achieve more!
