I was driving along a minute ago, it's a 40mph limit and I was doing about that. A lady, on the pavement, about a hundred yards up from me suddenly stopped and held her white stick out into the road. She was blind, but didn't have a guide dog.

So, I do an emergency stop out of panic.

I had never ever imagined this scenario in my head ... was that right? Didn't want to run her over, but the cars behind me came too a grinding halt, too ... the driver behind me was laughing hysterically.

:(

If a blind person holds out their white stick it is to tell drivers that they are intending to cross. In that situation, you should slow down and be prepared to stop, but you did nothing wrong in doing an emergency stop. A driving instructor would just say you were a bit over enthusiastic and to always look ahead for obstacles such as that.
Forget the driver behind you laughing. Just remember to always do what you think is right as you cannot correct anyone else who is wrong. (he was probably laughing in shock because he was too close to you and was the one in the wrong)

She clearly likes you as more than a friend, you are reading into the buddy thing way too much! i call my boyfriend buddy or bro all the time. So just don't let it bother you, and if it bothers you that much just tell her that your not a fan of being called that, do it in a way that she wont get offended though!! But in my opinion she likes you. Or she may just want to get to know you better before she can know for sure if she likes you, she may just be playing it safe right now because she may not be sure if you like her back.

Sounds like what I would have done, Love! Sounds right to me… and doing something to protect someone, even when laughed at is Not wrong!

Two funny/embarrassing examples;

In the army, I was talking to my sergeant when his eyes rolled back and his body swayed forward. I've seen enough people pass out to know what was about to happen. So my little 5’5” frame dramatically stretched out to catch this over 6’ 200 plus lb man, who would have crushed me! When suddenly, he straightened up and acted like nothing happened!

So there I was, hands extended and nothing to catch. The sergeant never even noticed… but my coworker did and laughed hysterically because I was unaware that the sergeant was drunk. But how was I supposed to know? He didn't even slur his words or stagger!

The other one was with a man slumped over in his wheel chair. I ran out to feel his pulse. Perhaps my panic kept me from feeling it…I don't know. But I had a coworker call an ambulance. My boss just went outside and shook him awake because he knew the man was drunk. Then he sent him on his way.

He made me feel like a foolish, overreacting woman. I felt so stupid… but now realize I still wasn't wrong for caring! Perhaps I was wrong, but you see, my parents ran an ambulance when I was a child. I would Not have shaken him because I did Not know the problem and didn't want to make things worse.

So, Love, in my opinion, caring about another person is NEVER wrong! It is the lack of concern that is incomprehensible.

I would rather be safe than sorry. She may have been signaling her intent to cross the street. You might have over reacted a little bit and suffered a little embarrassment, but so what? I think it is far better to handle it the way you did rather than ignore her and possibly put her in danger. You did the right thing.

yes u did the right thing, if the person behind you was tailing you or wasnt giving you enough space that is his fault. He must've been giving you enough space if you hit the emergency stop. Also that lady needed help, stuff like that cant be happening.

Rite thing dude. Would you rather be embarressed or run over a blind lady? Hmmm..... Hard choice.

You behaved perfectly. Nothing wrong. If the drivers behind were too close that's their fault.

well it wasn't nessasary to do an emergany stop, but i understand that it is a odd situation so you couldn't help it... but itd have been better to jus slow down a lot and b prepaired to stop... but it doesn't matter anymore anyway, so jus 4get about it! and ignore the driver behind u... he/she sounds like n idiot! lol!
