See Article VI of the Constitution: "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

Since I support the Constitution, his/her religious beliefs are completely irrelevant to qualifications for office.

Who cares as long as he or she is honest, watching out for our nation, representing the folks at home. A whole lot more folks are atheists than you think. My father spent 34 years in the military and had no use for religion. And a finer patriot never lived.

I don't believe the characteristics of honesty, integrity and strength of character are exclusive to one, or any, religion. Overall, I've found the opinions of Atheists and Agnostics to be less clouded by judgment and religious bias, so if their actions reflect the above characteristics... I'd be very happy!

I'd say some religous types are gonna take a self-exemption rulefrom the "Thou shalt not lie" commandment and launch a smear campaign against him.

Most religous wont do that, but a noisy minority would.

I wouldn't care about that. I would care for the atheist more than the position. This world's gonna end sooner or later. It won't matter then.

LOL faith in something....even Atheists sometimes have faith in something...it's just not the fairy tail that most believe in.

Look in the Constitution. Bill of Rights section under first Amendment. There's a reason it's number one.

You dont have to spell it -its not a naughty word. I would think nothing of it - thats how it should be. Atheists deserve representation too.
