I'm curious as to how other countries fund public education. Any good resources would be great! Thanks!

In Guyana, there is a Ministry of Education(MOE). The public schools(formerly called Government schools) are funded by the Government through the MOE, the Ministry has the job of appointing teachers in schools that doesn't have a Board of Governors. For schools with a Board of Governors, the Board has the job of hiring teachers who must be Ministry approved, but the Government still funds all public schools. Private schools must show proof that the environment they offer for learning is acceptable and is observed to a certain level by the MOE, in terms of student welfare. These private schools are NOT funded by the Government.

In Germany, what the Americans want to call a "state" the Germans call a "country". There are layers of federal laws applying to all of Germany, but there are also traditions-based laws within the 16 countries that make them unique. Bavaria is not at all like the Baden-Wurtemburg. Each country in Germany certifies their own teachers, those teachers are only qualified within that country and each country pays for the schools out of the income tax collected from that country.
