You need a new dr. I did the exact same thing as you I went off the pill in feb '06 knowing my hubby and I wanted to try this year well I only got 4 periods and they stopped altogether in oct'06 so in April '07 we knew we were ready and serious about starting so i went to my dr. and she did blood work and an ultrasound on me, the tests came back negative but I did show cysts on my ovaries but they were nothing to worry about.
She put me on Provera to start a cycle for me, you take it for 10 days. Then on the 3rd day from your cycle start date you take Clomid (it's a fertility pill) this will make you ovulate.
I started my first dose last month with no success and just started my 2nd cycle so we'll see if this one works, We sure hope so!!
They have no known why this happens to women but it's more commen then you think.
You can read up on the internet some about Provera (not to be mistaken for depo provera-they are 2 totally different things) and Clomid so you can ask your dr. about it.
I also invested in a book called "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni, you can order it on ebay for pretty cheap. It really lets you know what to look for and be more in tune with your body.
Good Luck~

A good way to start being aware of your cycles is through natural family planning methods. These help you check your cervical mucus consistency (stringy/stretchy/loose is fertile, thick and sticky is not fertile) and you can even get cheap little microscopes to put your saliva on (when it dries if you are fertile, you see 'ferning' patterns around the mouth cells) I do not suggest the "ovulation detectors" that you can buy at the store because its just too expensive and you need to already know generally when you're supposed to ovulate.

When you get to know your body better with these methods you will be able to better predict when you are likely ovulating. Also start taking women's vitamins (or prenatal if you're not currently taking them) which will help get your body in a state to be ovulating/pregnant. When you will become regular again can depend on how long you were on birth control pills, but moderate exercise and vitamins can help your body return faster.

Also one of the biggest things that can prevent ovulation is stress so get to know your body a bit better, and enjoy the stress-relieving benefits of sex!

Honey! you do not ought to be on a era or have regulars to get pregnant. you will get pregnant from the time you start up your first era. You physique releases a low volume of hormones each and all the time. In some female, it takes so plenty greater or an quite ovulation to get pregnant, yet in some female it do not. it quite relies upon on your physique and how it reacts. i became on start administration for 3 years, and that i finished up pregnant, did not be conscious of it till i became 4 months alongside. i became informed i might never have youngsters because of the fact I had endometrias genuine undesirable. Now i'm a proud mama of four captivating youngsters!! be careful, and consistently use risk-free practices. i be conscious of you will possibly think of it feels greater ideal without a condom, yet you may consistently get distinctive varieties.

no, when you ovulate, and the egg does not get fertilized 14 dpo you will have your period. so if you are not having your period then you are not ovulating. Try to stop stressing about it, lose some weight, (if thats what your doctor informed you to do) and dont start trying to concieve until you are at a healthy weight. I dont know why your doctor told you to try to have a baby while dieting, because it is not healthy for a baby.
