One of the oldest and often uttered saying,"Honesty is the best policy,"is just that ie a policy. There is always a gap between a policy statement and it's implementation and thus, the ground reality. Suppose, a not so good looking girl/lady friend asks you,'am I ugly'?Honesty demands that you say yes or words to that effect, but would you like to say so?Being politically correct does not mean that you can not or need not be honest. It's the misuse of the practice by politicians and media that the term has acquired a degraded image.Being politically correct requires skills like words smithy, wit, charm, tact and sharp intelligence among other traits. On the other hand, even a dumbest idiot can be honest with no effort in his part. In real life situations,a wise person shall use both, depending upon the situation.

Generally, I'm not concerned about being politically correct when speaking amongst friends. As important as it is to be honest it's also important to not offhandedly insult or offend people, too.

Being honest. I don't give a crap about being politically correct, and I think people who do are WAY too concerned about what other people think of them.
:O)
Have a nice day!

Being honest is more important. If your being politically correct just to tickle peoples ears than its nothing more than a dumb lie!

Being honest, to a degree. Sometimes you can be painfully honest, & that hurts, but I refuse to be sucked into calling a fireman a " fire person". That's being nit picky.
