I'm planning to purchase rare electronics items that are not readily available in the U.S such as game consoles, mobile phones and computer accessories that are only released in Asia and resell them online in the U.S.
Are there any government imposed restrictions that I should be aware of?
I will most probably get items shipped in small quantities via Postal Service or UPS and I anticipate each shipment will be worth no more than USD500. Would this be considered an Import Business? and what are the rules and regulations for that? Do I have to register with a government agency?

Could you please provide any links to resources that I can use to educate myself about such business.

Thank you!

You are probably going to run into trade infringements and trademark roadblocks, not to mention that you must be licensed to sell many of these electronics becuase their distribution is restricted by either trade regulations. or trade agreements between the US and the country of origin.

I'd rethink that idea were I you....

You are right to assume this is a lot of work. I'm an importer/exporter, and I certainly don't want to train competitors. But, here's a link to start with.
