I'm not worried, I'm just curious. I've never been pregnant before so I don't know how it's "supposed" to feel, and I feel foolish asking my mom this question (even though I usually ask her my pregnancy questions) because I feel like it's silly.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and the past couple of weeks, I've begun to feel what I can only describe as a "tightness" in my lower abdomen. I would say everything feels "squished" but it's more like everything feels "tight." My husband can feel that part of my belly is harder than the rest. When I have to pee, it hurts. Not burning, but I feel excessively full - very "tight" I don't know of another word to describe it. Like all of my insides have been stretched across a drum.

I'm sure this is normal, but I've never heard it described this way. Thoughts? Is this the normal halfway mark feeling?

Thanks. :)

they are braxton hicks. i had them but i had them at the top of my stomach. it made it hard for me to breathe the hurting when you pee sounds like your uterus is growing and pressing on ur bladder. when it hurts it feels like you have held it too long. right? it is normal. and it will probably last the rest of ur pregnancy.

I felt very much the same way in my second trimester...well and after that too! With your uterus growing at the rate it is, everything gets squished...including the bladder which is the biggest noticable thing that is "squished" because you have to pee so often. Also, it can make having sex tighter for you and the sensation different for your husband. Depending on how you fit together to begin with, this may mean a need for more lube. About week 18-22 I went from only looking a little "fat" to actually looking PREGNANT (it was like I got really round suddenly) so the sensation was very much a full feeling where my abdomen suddenly needed more room.

Best of luck in your pregnancy. I now have a beautiful (screaming) baby boy who is four weeks old. All of it is an adventure

My second son did a similar thing- as I got toward the end of the pregnancy it was even more pronounced, he was facing into my spine and hisback was right aganst my belly- I could feel him turn this way and he preferred to do this when I was asleep/ laying down. I enjoyed the time and would just rub "his back" and talk to him- its funny he's 9 now and still loves to have his back rubbed- best of luck to your new family

The tightening you feel could be Braxton-Hicks contractions that last for a while. And it might be uncomfortable to pee now because your uterus is growing and pressing against your bladdar.
