Lilith is thought be the demon of waste places who originally lived in the garden of the Sumerian goddess, Innana, queen of heaven. She is mentioned only briefly in the Hebrew Bible in Isaiah 34:14.
In the Babylonian tradition, there is a triad of demons with whom Lilith is associated. The male is called Lilu, and the two females are Lilitu, a frigid, barren, & husbandless demon who roamed the night searching for men to seduce or drink their blood, and Ardat Lili, the "maid of desolation."
In Jewish traditions, Lilith was created with Adam from the dust of the earth, & became his first wife. She was stubborn, though, & refused to be subservient to her husband. Instead of becoming Adam's servant, she left him & was turned out of Paradise. However, before God created Eve, He sent 3 angels to try to convince Lilith to return to Adam. She refused, & God cursed her by sentencing 100 of her offspring to die each day. After her expulsion from Paradise, however, she slept once more with Adam, & bore the Shedim, Lilin, & Rauchin.
Later, in Kabbalistic circles, Lilith became the mistress of Sammael.
It is mistakenly thought that Lilith's name was derived from the Hebrew word lailah, which means 'night.' This was probably derived from the similarity of the two words, and the idea that Lilith was mostly active at night.

Kabbalic question from the Zohar. I don't believe the Lilith story anyway because it's not canonical to begin with but trying to answer your question maybe I'll give what it could possibly mean. I am going to go for a more reaching possibility that Lilith wanted to supplant Adam's position and his priesthood authority. Jewish Priesthood has always been held by males. I am going to make a best symmetrization that Lilith wanted the priesthood, as that she wanted the dominate male position and when Adam refused she supposedly became a demon. Whether that is true or not, I doubt because I don't believe the story in the first place, to me it's just a cautionary tale about women and what their place in society is suppose to be.

According to some, Lilith 'lived alone' until she died, which is why she stands as the first 'totally liberated woman.' According to others, she got into a 'Lesbian relationship' with an (presumably female) angel.
Was there ever a 'real Lilith?' I doubt it, but I also 'doubt' that the Adam and Eve story is a 'true story' ... there is too much 'hard evidence' that humanity 'evolved from the Apes' even though there is still that 'missing link.' I think that the Adam and Eve story is just that ... a 'story' about how mankind 'fell' from the grace of God, and was 'driven out of Eden' to live in the 'real world' ... and I also believe that it may have been 'written' to give male theologians an 'excuse' to put women 'in their place' (BELOW men, and subservient to men) ... but it is also a good story about WHY God 'created Earth and put us here' (God actually 'created' this whole universe, and 'lives' in another universe, which we call Heaven) and tell us 'what we must do' to get 'back into God's 'good graces' so we will 'know what we need to know' for our 'real life' with God in Heaven.

Lilith wasn't part of the original story in the Bible. What happened was 2 genesis stories were passed down through tradition and meshed together to create the Genesis that exists today in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. (It can be broken apart in 2 complete separate stories.) Many years after the people had forgotten that their story came from two different sources, they were reading the creation and wondering why people were created twice. So, in the book that the Jews wrote to explain away any discrepancies in the text, they decided that Adam had a wife that created equal to him out of dust, who was Lilith. She was evil though, because the men who wrote this thought so, and she later went on to to be a powerful demon. She was thought to kill children and go after men in their sleep. (This is called a succubus, which is the female version of an incubus.) She also was the mother of demons.

She is still around, all righty...I have invoked Lilith and she has told me many interesting things. She is not in fact "Queen of Demons"; she is the Mistress of beasts and of the elemental spirits, who many consider "demonic". She was outcast by men, and thus carries a great deal of rage against them, which will eventually result in the downfall of humanity, as women are essentially
"powerless" without her, and thus they are powerless to stop men from destroying the world with nuclear weapons. I have been told the 'gloves are off' after 2012; global catastrophe is on the way after then. It is said that this Aeon will end in Fire; with 70,000-odd nuclear weapons scattered over the earth, it cannot be denied that fiery destruction on this scale has certainly been "enabled"

She went off to the land of Nod and had the daughters that Cain married when he was sent there as punishment for killing Abel. People have asked for years how there could be a woman there if Adam and Eve were the only people besides their sons--there's the answer.

From what I know, Lillith fled to the Red Sea where she mated with demons, giving birth to a race of vampires. Adam asked God to bring her back to Eden and sent three angels to convince her, but Lillith refused to return. She is known as an incubus who crept into men's beds and molested them as they slept.
