right now i'm in this nationals tournament for baseball it's 13u there are teams from everywhere california, missouri, texas, NY, viginia, memphis, florida and more. but anyway I pitch and i throw around 72-75 and i think that's pretty good for my age, I dont let up alot of runs i do pretty good, but then after the game i walk over to watch the other games and there is a kid who's throwing 80 and he's getting rocked there hitting him like crazy and he was placing his pitches well he had an unbelivable 12-6 curve but still he was getting hit. and also what i dont get is that when i pitched against the team who hit this kid they only got 6 hits off of me. why is it that a kid who is a much better pitcher than me gets killed by the same team who did decent against me. o by the way i know he throws 80 cuz right when the kid threw the first pitch in the game the coach grabbed his radar gun walked over and clocked it and it said 82

all kinds of reasons. Maybe be doesn't mix up his pitche, his #2 and #3 pitch are bad, he throws a straight fastball, his location isn't very good.

like the others have said, you have to mix up your pitches. if you throw hard you'll get guys out at first. but they will get used to the timing of the pitch. if the other guy is throwing 80mph every pitch, its just a matter of timing. on the other hand, if you are throwing 70mph, then switch to 55mph, up to 60, etc, you will be much harder to hit. changing speeds, changing the eye level of the batter, pitching to the defense... these are all things that will make you an effective pitcher.
on a personal note, i think its horrible that curve balls are allowed in a 13 and under league. that kid will be having tommy john's surgery by the time he's 20. hold off on the breaking stuff until you're at least 17 or so.

Could be that the ball is harder to pickup coming out of your hand than his.
Could be that your ball has a lot more movement on it than his. An 80 MPH fastball that is dancing is harder to hit than a 90 MPH fastball that is going in a straight line. Look at Tim Wakefield on the Red Sox, he throws at ~70 MPH knuckleball, that thing is dancing all over and when he is on - nobody can hit him.
What happened against this other kid the first time through the opponents order? Second time around they might have had him figured out.

probably he threw it over theplate right down the middle
baseball players and kids like fast pitches down the middle because that is what they hit the best..
it is all about the placement of the ball.. you pitch it in their weak spot they wont do good
pitch it in the strong zone they get hits...
also they could of been tired because of the last game...
remeber dont always throw strikes move the ball around
pitch it in one spot everytime they will know where it will be and start crushing the ball...
and the pitcher could have been tierd

I did see him pitch, but i would guess movement.
If you throw a fastball at 75 MPH that tails into right handed batters it will give hitters a lot more trouble than a straight 85 MPH fastball, even if it is placed right on the corner.

you probably have pretty good location then. If you throw 80 but leave it right smack down the middle then you're gonna get rocked. He probably doesn't have a good motion throwing the curve so it is probably easy to pick up. It could also be your wind-up or something that fools em a bit. does 13u mean 13and under? if it does you guys have pretty good arms.

Maybe the other team is a good fastball hitting team and is used to that speed. He might not also change speeds enough so they can time the pitch

It could be that they either had an " off day " against you, or they caught the other guy in a game in which they were hitting much better. Could be a number of reasons for this. This is just one of them.

some teams r used to fast fastball pitchers so dont worry. just keep doing what ur doing.... the ball also is hit farther when the pitch is thrown harder

Maybe he was locating his pitches in the wrong part of the zone. Or the other offense could be better than the one you faced.
