LOL! Good question
Im here because I feel (probably naively) that I might be able to sway some opinion. I dislike partisanship immensely and feel that there needs to be a movement towards the center and towards consensus.
There is a give and take to that as well. I learn as much as I "teach" from answering questions here. Im often learning about news items that I hadnt quite caught yet.
Its fun and entertaining. And yes, every once in awhile you come across one of those really ignorant posts that you just cant help but tee off on. Very cathartic ;)

Some of us come over here as a public service, to educate the uninformed on world events and politics. Sometimes we find intelligent questions and answers, but many times it's like walking into a special ed class. Aside from having to wade through an awful lot of childish and boring nonsense, YA is sometimes entertaining.

I'm a glutton for punishment... And actually, I tend to look at the general politics an government category rather then one individual forum as they all tie in.
Actually, I want to get my best answer percentage back up. it's gone down while I've just been in the hockey section, the people there all seem to be intelligent. Here I'm one of the smartest... and posting on troll posts and then going back an casting the only vote in those questions for BA gets numbers up...
And putting idiots in their place is quite fun. especially when somebody is trying to change the facts or the law and twisting it.

I come for the occasional actual discussion that can develop out of a "question" posted here, and to hone my persuasive writing (I've been out of school for a long time now, so I actually enjoy it).
My favorite thing is to find that my answer to a seemingly hostile question is chosen best out of a field of thirty and the comment says something like "Wow! I never thought of that!"
(It's also interesting to see how on one thread a given answer may get mostly thumbs-up, but on another thread, the very same answer could well get thumbs mostly down. I think it has to do with how the question is phrased, but I haven't worked it out yet.)

I come here to try to set people straight and to get a really good laugh at the idiots trying to "pull the wool over the eyes" of the gullible.

get a good laugh at how stupid people really are (both the right and the left)
as well as the links to news articles and different websites.

I like to bash conservatives and laugh at them. This forum isn't capable of providing insight into how the political system works.

To get some insight (what little there is to gather), see what ridiculous claim the far left or right is making and to set people who I think are completely misinformed in their place....even if they don't want to listen...it makes me feel good to spread a little common sense to some of the crazy people on here.

Actually, I spend most of my time in Law and Ethics.
I just hop over to the Politics section when I see an issue that I want to comment on.

I hope I provide insight and get people thinking about new ideas. That's my goal anyway. I may come off as insulting toward those who disagree with me but that's not my objective.
