I'm confused about this big arms deal with Saudi Arabia. They won't lift a finger to help us in Iraq yet we make sure they get our very best military hardware that could be used against Israel or us at a future date. Does this make sense to you? Is this as bad or worse than trading nuclear technology for mangos? What this administration needs is a good used car salesman working their deals instead of the idiot doing it now, don't you think?

Well put!, but there's no need to be confused for the answer can be rather simple. CORPORATE AMERICA! Further investigation can get very complicated and lengthy as the spoor is sometimes deliberately disguised and/or hidden. Both major political parties in this country have their hands in the pockets and noses up the bvtts of lobbyists and special interest groups. The two party system no longer works for anyone but these charlatans who haunt and have haunted Washington for years. It will be the biggest challenge to face America since the "Great Depression" but the time has come for us to consider a revision in our basic concepts of government and give some though to a Parliamentary concept to "clean house" of the stale sycophant "dust bunnies" in our nation's capitol. These arms deals are based on "WHO HAS THE BUCKS". The Saudis could care less about us. Wasn't most of the culprits responsible for 911 Saudis? Isn't Bin Laden originally Saudi? Aren't these people basically a Theocracy who believe in a violent sky fairy from some hallucination or another? We should be very careful as to the quantity and quality of arms we allow to any of these middle eastern tribes.

Under the guise of a $20 billion, 10-year arms sales package for Saudi Arabia aimed at "giving the Saudi military an upgraded capability to counter Iranian aggression in the Persian Gulf region"....the billions we are going to spend for this "deal" is nothing more than a "thank you" to the Saudi's for "their support" and allowing us access to Saudi Arabia for air bases and such.

Just as we would "tip" a waiter or waitress for the service they provided, so then we are tipping the Saudi's for their service....in other words, we're "kissing up" in the hopes that they will be there for us in the future if and when we need them.

This package deal with the Saudi's and other U.S. allies in the Gulf - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates - supposedly is aimed to bolster the militaries of the Sunni Arab states as part of a strategy to counter what it sees as a growing threat posed by Iran in the region....
ok fine, now let's see if the Saudi's or any of "our friends" actually DO something against Iran that might serve to show their support of the U.S. effort in that region....
don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

This adm will do anything for a buck. The bombers on 9-11 were all Saudis and Saudi Arabia hates Israel. Yet Bush and friends do everything they can for the Saudis. There's nothing like oil and cash to win over these criminals who are in charge of the US now.

The excuse the US government. is using for this deal is to better arm the Arabs against Iran. Is Iran such a formidable foe, I think not. Oh! I see Israel is included in this arms deal. That's the way to keep the peace. Bush and Co. are a joke.

I fear that this is another wrong move and one that we will regret sooner rather than later.
