things, like "she doesn't practice the right politics", and if I disagree with the homosexual lifestyle I am a hatemonger. She even has a bumper sticker on her vehicle that says "I miss Bill." If I had a conservative bumper sticker, I would feel like my job was in jeapordy, or at the least like I would be ostracized or not allowed to go any farther in my career. Once I did mention something conservative and my colleague looked like her head would explode. The liberals seem to feel that they can speak their minds, but conservatives have to shut up. How can that be fair?

Scott U, you hit the nail on the head. If you have ever read Michael Savage, he started out as a liberal and a social worker. He lived in an apartment with no furniture. One of his clients didn't have furniture. His supervisor authorized about $5,000 for the clients to get furniture while Savage slept on the floor. What is wrong with this picture?

Hey suthurylyts, this is a completely different question. What a moronic statement about teeth. Why is it that northern elite liberals are tolerant of everyone, but make fun and promote stereotypes of Southerners? Except when it is their darling, Bill?

Sorry about this. Every now and then I have a stalker who clones my name. My apologies.
The liberals are PC people. If you're not totally PC and disagree with them, they tend to get into name calling, etc. The truth is, it isn't fair. Speak out and don't let them beat you down. :)
Also, if you see my trolling stalker show up leaving dirty senseless jokes, cursing people out and then following them around and leaving smut in it's path, rest assured, it's NOT me. Just place it on ignore, if you would.

It's not fair -- but it's a side effect of the philosophical differences between the two movements.
The core liberal philosophy is about tolerance for diversity and respect for personal freedoms and civil liberty. Most see any challenge to that as an attack against those core freedoms. That's because of the way that many conservatives frame the issues.
Conservatives, at their core, value tradition and conformity, seeing stability and consistency as the best way to achieve security. However, they don't always phrase their goals in such terms, which causes many to see their goals as hate-based rather than security-motivated.
So, you're getting blamed because may people who might share some of the same viewpoints tend to come across as bigoted or hate-based or controlling.
It's not fair -- it's just the way the issues get phrased.

Your assuming that your coworkers are the same as every liberal. Your job shouldn't be brought into Jeopardy just because you have different political views. Unless its your boss who is reacting this way to your views, you shouldn't have to worry about your career status. As for bumper stickers, the worst thing that could happen was you would be made fun of for a few minutes.
Just suck it up. You happen to work in a job with people who have liberal viewpoints. you can't force them to like your ideas, or repsect them.

What you're feeling is simply the discomfort that comes from being part of a minority--within your workplace, I mean. Now you know why other minorities sometimes seem a little paranoid. They're feeling and reacting to something similar.
I assume nobody has made outright threats. Your examples are simply of people not liking your opinion. You don't like theirs either, but you don't have a pack to back you up here, and so you're feeling vulnerable.
The good news is, your job shouldn't be in jeopardy if you put a conservative bumper sticker on your car. In fact, if you are FRIENDLY in pointing out to your colleagues that you have different views, it can even become a joking rivalry. I've been there, though not on the conservative side.
Or, you could change jobs, if it bothers you so much.

This 'stuff' happens all the time. It happens in the reverse of what you have described.
You sound like a 'kid' who thinks he/she doesn't fit in or nobody will play with him !!
Get a real life - debate the topic in a friendly way - KEEP IT OUT OF THE WORKPLACE - IF YOU SAY NOTHING, YOU CAN'T BE BLAMED FOR IT !!
Geo. W. whatshisname has said so many lies and been quoted doing so. HE is the foundation for the libs hatred of anything repub or 'con', far more than at any time in my life(I'm 62 yrs old).
Blame it on him - blame it on Rio - whatever - remember, more than 70% of voters refute him and all he stands for !!
Stay out of it !! You're in a helpless, hopeless minority who ARE wrong, and the proof is right there in the presidency !!
Your 'values' may be ok, but your politics, backing the likes of the 'monster' Bush ARE wrong, even if the Constitution states that you have the 'right' to be 'wrong'.

First, a little wake up - The first amendment does not apply to the work place. You CAN be fired for what you say there.
Second, there are some subjects best left at home:
Politics
Religion
Sex
You are there to perform a job for your employer, not there to debate politics. Leave it at home. It is highly unlikely anyone cares about your bumper sticker.

First off, you should realize that Republicans and Democrats are all in cahoots in DC. They're really no different, besides on some petty issues that really would not change your life that much.
Also, your question is REALLY vague and doesn't make sense. How can your job be in jeopardy? Have you been threatened with unemployment if you speak out? Also, maybe you should take a step back and see why people are calling you a hatemonger. Maybe they're right...

It's not fair when conservatives speak their minds, because we are rational, factual, and logical...they are emotional. I'm a social worker who has voted republican since 1984, and my coworkers tend to vote liberally, espouse liberal values for the clients they come in contact with, but live conservative lives (work hard to get on top in their profession, invest, make responsible choices for the future, etc.). I don't know why, if that lifestyle is good enough for my peers, it isn't something recommended to their clients.

it is amazingly actual. there's a single considerable information station with a conservative bias, yet they declare that's a propaganda device. most of the folk they hire are loopy adequate to shoot at, yet they could desire to try this because of the fact it makes them STAND OUT. yet what number stations have a liberal bias? There hasn't been a vocal conservative actor/actress considering that Reagan, however the different day you notice celebrities bashing conservatives in the information. So, as quickly as lower back, liberals have a monopoly on a great factor to the media. quite, i might choose to work out a liberal-minded individual attempt to refute what I fairly have reported right here. like the asker reported, in case you experience froggy, please deliver me a message and shall we see in case you are able to back what you're able to be able to desire to assert. @Jeremiah i'm from a small city in eastern KY. Farmlands make bigger for miles and miles as quickly as you bypass away the city. yet we nonetheless get all considerable information channels ie msnbc, cnn, abc, fox, etc. And confident, movies and track are a extensive portion of what is going in our lives. Even twilight mania hit my city (no longer me of direction lol). you have of course established right here which you have 0 clue approximately how existence is going on in lots of small cities, cities, and rural communities in usa. in case you choose to learn, although, so which you additionally could make greater counseled statements, i may be better than prepared to furnish a place so you might stay, so which you will discover better than in basic terms your huge city.

I've had to bite my tongue several times...even (AND especially) with my own boss....not because I feel my job would be jeopardized, but because the workplace is no place for it.
Someone here said to let this woman spout off all she wants; don't offer your position or an unsolicited opinion. That's what I do. Let her go...don't lump her in with anybody else and don't participate in political conversations.
In other words, be the bigger person.
