Notre Dame is the most successful independent football team of all time. They are not going anywhere and they are not going to take a pay cut.
I don't see West Virginia jumping to the Big 10 because they have a shot at the national title in their league. They are also a media darling for some reason. Remember last year they were ranked third in the BCS with a patsy schedule up until they met Louisville and Rutgers. In the Big 10 they would probably never get there.
A good choice would be Pittsburgh because of its geographical location.

No way that Notre Dame will join, the Big 10 has been asking them forever. But Notre Dame has it sweet, huge TV contract, they will get into a BCS bowl even if they don't deserve it, and they are supposedly "America's Team," even though 90% of America absolutely hates those pansies. West Virginia, I doubt it, there's only 8 teams in the Big East as is.
So, good teams to add, I'm not sure, the only team I can think of is Iowa State, maybe Mizzou, and maybe Pitt, but these teams don't really sound like elite teams that the Big 10 is trying to add.

I think it would make sense for Notre Dame, though they still think it's the 1940's and people continue to overate them so until they quit thinking the National Championship should just be handed to them every year I seriously doubt they'll join.
West Virginia on the other hand sounds like a good addition.

Notre Dame won't because they get a lot of TV $$$ on their own. Iowa State won't get an offer because the whole expansion talk is in regards to getting a new big TV market for the Big 10 Network. Most likely adddition is Missouri because they bring a large fan base and the St. Louis TV Market.
The Texas teams in the Big 12 do not want TCU because that would further dilute their recruiting pool and TV share.

To the person who said Notre Dame will NEVER join a conference. They joined the Big East for Basketball, did they not? They were asked to join the Big Ten for Basketball, but were afraid they would do terribly because they are not the best basketball school. It does not make sense for them to join the Big Ten for football because of their lucrative TV contract. It would be better for the Big Ten to simply boot out Northwestern who is generally a terrible team every year in the major sports. Thus, becoming the Big Ten again.

Geographically and logistically, Notre Dame if they ever joined a conference wouldn't make sense anywhere other than the Big Ten, because they play half of the Big Ten anyway every year...But they won't because they have always been an independent...and they have the TV deal with NBC...

The problem I'm having is that I can't think of any other good teams to put in the Big Ten. ND won't give up that MONEY, WVU won't give up a shot at winning a conference title EVERY SINGLE YEAR, when their only competition now is Louisville and Rutgers. I can't think of anyone TOUGH ENOUGH or STUPID ENOUGH to join the Big Ten. Maybe Pittsburgh, since Penn State has joined?

Notre Dame will NEVER join a conference and give up the unfair advantage they have enjoyed for the last 70 years. They should be forced to do so by the NCAA.

I would like to see Pittsburgh go to the Big Ten. Just to see the Pitt - Penn State rivalry renewed. It would automatically give the Big Ten the two biggest rivalries in college football.
Ohio St. - Michigan
Pitt - Penn St
In the same conference. That would be some good football to watch.

need to add somebody, b/c ohio state has a cakewalk schedule this year.
West virgina dominates the big east(which has a bcs bid), so why would they go. Notre Dame will never join unless Ncaa makes them.
