A woman who has been having an affair for about a year now is with her lover. Her husband calls her on her cell to tell her he will be home early. In order to get home before he does so there is no suspicion she decides to take a short cut and walk through a bad part of town known for high crime rate. On her way home she is raped and murdered in an alley. The police never find her killer.

By reading this story would you say it is the woman's fault for her death or her killer.

You can't say both...

Their are no right or wrong answers I'm curious to know what you will say and your reasoning behind it.

Although it is the woman's lack of better sense that lead it to happen it is ultimately the killer's fault! She placed herself for bad reasons into a situation but that doesn't mean she is guilty... in this case most rapists and murderers would be free in the streets right!
In another aspect, even if you find it in a poetic justice view as fair for her to take punishment... adultery is not equitable to killing! She should be betrayed by those who she loves and trusts to an equal or mildly larger scale instead!

The killer is responsible for the woman's rape and death.

We are responsible for our own actions but we can't be held responsible for other people's. The woman is responsible for the fact that she had an affair, lied about it and walked home through a bad part of town. She is responsible insofar as her actions increased her chances of getting raped and/or murdered. But there is no direct cause and effect relationship between her actions and the crimes committed against her. The man still had a choice not to do what he did.

It would be the same in terms of other crimes. Say your car gets stolen. You left your door unlocked and the keys in the car. You did something very stupid and increased your chances of having your car stolen. But plenty of people do similarly stupid things and never have their cars stolen. Therefore, leaving your keys in an unlocked car does not create an irresistible compulsion for someone to steal it. The thief still had the choice not to act on the impulse to steal your poorly guarded property.

The killer, though I do see the karmic reasoning behind what you're saying I don't think that she should have been raped and killed for that. Why the killer? Because s/he didn't have to resort to such things as raping and killing, heck, if that individual wanted sex so bad s/he could have just hired a hooker or went to a bar.

(Though I do think that the woman should have been more cautious about the area she was entering, therefore making herself a victim.)

well i would say the killer,
lots of ppl have affairs and its not the fault of the ppl if they cannot own up to it, they have to live in there shame.
but as for rapeing and killin some poor woman that might,
be a carer to old ppl or a mommy of 2babys or a misionaiery. its the killers fault there no excuse for this behaveior

You can argue both ways and still be correct... just like a court... you can argue either way... but it is the predefined limitations of the law where the judge's base their decision.

i can say that its "the killers mother's fault for conceiving the killer"... and have a very good arguement and win. or its the husbands fault for not keeping the attraction strong between her and his wife, thats why the wife cheated. either way... BUT in the court of law... if you take somebodys life with intention to kill you are responsible for it and that is murder.

The killer. Everyone should have the right to walk anywhere regardless without being murdered.

Why not blame the woman's mother for giving birth in the first place? There is no fault in this situation, the blame for her death lies with the killer who chose to commit murder.

just because she was having an affair and was in the wrong place at the wrong time most will blame her .. as far as I am concerned there can be no excuse for murder or rape .. it is clearly the fault of person who committed the crimes

The killer is guilty of murder.
The woman is guilty of stupidity.

Murder is a crime.

Stupidity doesn't need to be a crime,
it comes with it's own punishment.

Well,It was her fault she was having an affair and took that specific alley. But, the killer shouldnt have touched her, so I'm really confused. I have no idea whos fault it should be.
