Could anyone tell me excellent pieces of classical music, that remain relatively unknown - in particular uplifting music and music that brings a sense of occasion, eg. music to make an entrance to!
All answers appreciated,
Kathy

Breathtaking Bobby, thank-you,
any other pieces for reference?

I have a friend who requests a piece that is classical yet futuristic, and most definitely that incredibly overused piece that I shall not name...

I am actually quite fond, of The Pride of Oklahoma (OU Oklahoma Sooners) "fight song", so anything rousing like that would be perfect

I play the violin so of course I am going to go with a violin concerto. Since you are a beautiful lady I would go with what many consider the best violin concerto of all time: Mendellsohn Violin Concerto in E Minor

I would pay attention to movement II Andante. Its very light and moving for a entrance. Below I've listed below a site that has the violin player Janine Jansen playing it. just make sure to go to the music section and you can skip until you get to that movement.

You might try "The War March of the Priests" from the opera "Athalia" by Mendelsohn. Here is what it sounds like http://youtube.com/watch?v=lr_68fcV7zg

It sounds much better with a full orchestra, and is not very well known.
