I am SICK BEYOND WORDS about the whole damn thing.

Government is 100% corrupt and self-serving.

American citizens have NO ONE representing them.

The bones are good, but the complexion has gone rotten.

It's WAY past time for "housecleaning" we need an impeachment to give Washington a wake-up call.

I thought it happened in November, when devastating election results shocked the Republicans.

But apparently it was not drastic enough.

TIME FOR IMPEACHMENT.

We have a system of choosing leaders that encourages corruption. The higher a person goes in the levels of government, the more they must compromise their principals. I am not being a defeatist alarmist I will explain where I get this idea.
You can be the best, most honest, most caring person in the world but to win an election you need to somehow get thousands of people to believe that. In a bigger election it is millions of people. We use advertising. A single 30 second national advertisement on television will cost around 300 thousand dollars. You will need dozens of those on several networks. If you just have 3 networks running one add per night for one month the cost is around 27 million dollars. But you also need dozens of highly educated professionals and many more regular employs to operate phones, make websites, distribute written materials, post signs, and on and on. The cost of a national election is millions of dollars. Even a very rich person must pause at betting their entire fortune on an election so fund raising is vital.
Regular people who believe in a candidate will contribute money but the real money comes from business. A business has an obligation to it's owners to not spend money unless there is a good chance of a return of some kind. Stock holders don't appreciate their profits going to other people. If a business is going to contribute to an election they want some assurance that the person they support will help them later. They don't need help for a popular issue. If regular people usually support an issue then business doesn't have to pay to get support for it. But there are many issues that regular people would be foolish to support. Take anti-bankruptcy legislation. For regular people it means one of the most valuable protections we have but for banks it is a money drain. Regular citizens wouldn't support a legislation to remove one of their rights. business certainly would. Just one example.
Before a candidate even wins an election they must compromise their principals and accept the idea of working against the common peoples best interest. Once they are elected the problem is worse. To get legislation passed they must cooperate with other elected legislators. The others went through the same process they did and each have projects that might benefit a small group but often is against the best interest of everyone else. To get legislation passes the new politician must compromise their principals again. How many times can a person accept a need to harm their constituents before it becomes a matter of little concern?

Oh confident, our government is corrupt. yet while in comparison with many this is the cleanest game in the galaxy. seem at Mexico, Philippians, Vietnam, Cambodia and the record actually is going for days. I even have visited various those international locations and that i will assure you that at a similar time as we would have a poor government it remains the cleanest government this planet has ever considered. you may basically disappear in a million/2 the international locations in the international and no person dares even checklist you lacking. Yep, we would have a poor government, it particularly is basically exceeded in corruption with the help of approximately ninety 9.997% of the different governments. IMO the biggest problem we've is an entire loss of statesmen. we've been caught with politicians for hundreds of years and that i do no longer see any progression on the horizon.

I completely agree. It is hard to differentiate between the typical rhetoric flung by them and their true intentions. The rhetoric is aimed at the common people. They know the proper body language and facial expressions to use in order to look convincingly with regards to a stance on an issue.
But as I often say, once they walk the red-light district (A.K.A. Lobbyist Row) and smell the green in their pockets, they all of a sudden work for them (corporations), not us.

I agree with your sentiment, but I think the word "irrelevant" is misused.

Given that violent criminals are released from prison early to make room for a non-violent person jailed for possession of marijuana because of their laws, how can they be irrelevant? Half the prisoners in federal prisons are there for nonviolent acts, yet we have pedophiles on the street because there's no room. They can decide to confiscate your property, make your livelihood illegal, reward and promote inefficient business ventures, and incarcerate federal officers who have the temerity to attempt to enforce their laws, who in their right mind would call them "irrelevant"?

Insane, perhaps.

Anyway.

DON'T RE-ELECT NOBODY!

Politicians by their very nature are a special breed:
1. They lie, even if they don't have too
2. They love attention, like rock stars
3. They love power and corruptness
4. They have no morals or guilt whatsoever
5. They love poor voters, as more and poorer as better.
6. They spend 90% of their time for relection, as soon as they are elected.

It's very corrupt, most are on the take from lobbyists from large corporations and could care less about the rest of us, and we just sit and let it happen. I'm with blue, I think impeachment is in order, bush AND cheney, get rid of both of them.

YES. But what confuses me is the corruption is put in our face and we just go on with life as usual like everything is peachy. I don't get that the fact that we as people have all these rights and just let these politican get away with whatever they want.

Yes, I do. Unfortunately, even tho' there are elections, some are good at fooling the general public and do what they will once they've been elected.

Oh, our government is very relevant. I'll give you that it's corrupt... but I don't know if it's *very* corrupt. I mean, in comparison to all other governments.

Vigilance remains key.
