Here is my point. This did not start out a race issue but if you look at it most of the people who are screeming for him to be tried are white people from animal activists. But that doesn't make it race related because they are all animal activists and those people are always nuts just read up on them. What does seem to speak of racisim to me is the black community who is coming out and saying "Due Process", "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" and the other banners they are waving. They are protesting his innnocence without looking at the case, above and beyond that there is no due process in the court of public opinon and that is the only place he has visited yet. Even his cohorts are giving up now saying he was funding the situation. Any man caught with this much evidence against him would be on a troubled train so why is it different just because he is black? Does this show the last true bastion of Racisim in the USA is in the black community?

lacedoutmami - Your the first person to say that a Peta member used such language and after Ivan I very much doubt that any white person would do that on live or taped TV. You become a media circus. But lets say that one person did say that why is the whole of americas black community out? And the racist part about the signs is the fact there is no need for them. There is always public opinon on any high profile case and you don't see other nationalities doing what is going on right now.

That's right - You have a couple points I would like to address the first the quickest. The theory of courts being bad just for blacks is at best a poor theory and at worst an out right lie. The courts are just bad no matter if your white black red or yellow. The other point about Public opinon I go back to every high profile case has people up in arms and out in the streets. But you only see racisim come out when its a high profile black person. So who is bringing the racisit remarks to the table. The black community, the white community, the red community, or the yellow community?

Comming out with the signs and screeming racisim is a racist thing to do. The reason plan and simple you are trying to use the fear of being called a racist in the public eye to change the lawful outcome of what is going to happen.
And you say yeah sure to the media circus thing look at the talk show host Ivan guy that made one stupid comment and got raked across the coals.
Don't understand something: I understand this that the people who are protesting are black, the people responding saying that he is being charged because he is black are all black and the fact that race was not an issue brought up (not even by Vick) until the black community brought it forward. Am I missing something here? Am I wrong in my conclustion from what I am seeing?
And yes I feel they are making the black community look bad because the evidence is overwhelming. I grew up in St. Bernard Parish, I am not white I am native american and I have alot of friends and family that are embarassed by this.

I disagree. Waving banners that protest "Due Process" and "Innoncent Untiil Proven Guilty" does not speak racism. To me it just says..."He may be guilty, but lets be sure he gets a fair trial and/or a fair sentence...", basically. However, I do believe it became a racial issue when a PETA member stepped to his face and called him a n!gger. Once again, that shows the racism that exists in the white community.
Hmm...we all know majority of the time the justice system isn't fair toward blacks + he makes $130 million a year. That's why it's different because he is black...
---
"I very much doubt that any white person would do that on live or taped TV." - Are you implying that what YOU don't see on TV does not exist? Hmm...and anyway this was in the news.
"You become a media circus.
" - Yeah, sure...
"But lets say that one person did say that why is the whole of americas black community out?" - (sigh) To see that he gets a fair trial.
"And the racist part about the signs is the fact there is no need for them." - Okay, but that does make it racist!
"There is always public opinon on any high profile case and you don't see other nationalities doing what is going on right now." - Your paragraph, your ideas are an example of the few black people who excuse their self for other races. Well, then how should black act and feel? You don't understand something or you feel different about an issue so you down a race by saying they're racist. Sorry, that's the only conclusion I got from your response.
Your only point was to say other races don't do this, why must blacks go and make a scene because I'm so embarassed. They make the blk community look bad because he's guilty. Somewhere in your teachings you missed the main idea of what "Building a Black Community is". If that is how you honestly felt then I would have more respect for what you are saying.
---
Imus wasn't fired because of black people. Black people do not have a victory over Imus' firing. The sponsors pulled out, which means no money, and that means no Imus. Besides, he got a job at another radio station anwyay. You know, I don't feel like it today. Maybe tomorrow because you are on some BS.
And if you're Native American then who are you to say what's making the black community look bad. Just stop already...

First I would like to say I don't think people who care about the suffering of other living creatures is nuts. But shows as a people we are caring and loving to helpless little animals.
Now, this is not a race issue and that should not even be brought up. It is a case of a man breaking the law by torturing living creatures for some sick thrill he gets out of seeing something suffer. Most men who move on to torture women start out torturing animals. They are usually white.
Men who have Cock' fights with roosters are usually white.
A man's color hardly makes him more abusive. That comes from a demented mind. What the public opinion is doesn't matter when they get into the court room.
Did he break the law in tortureing animals? That is all that will be decided.

race shouldn't have anything to do with it but white people are the most racist people on the earth so they will lash out anytime they get a chance
Edit: Look the fact of the matter Michael Vick didn't even know what was going on. He lives in Georgia and he happens to own a remote piece of land in a very small part of Virginia. He owns the land so legally he is liable. It doesn't mean he knew what was going on!! Why would Michael Vick of all people risk everything he has for dog fighting??

This case isn't about race, but the color of M. Vicks skin is. I don't care how much ppl say "it's not about race", you'd be a damn fool to think that everybody is color-blind, & they only want justice for the crime.
When it comes to black & white relations in this country, just about everything is a color issue. You can pee on my head & tell me it's raining, but I know the difference.
White ppl always want to look down on anything black...now the NAACP is there, but what about PETA? Okay, you say they're there protesting the abuse of animals, but they're mostly white...and don't think for one second they don't look at Vick and see a black man.
The NAACP is there not to make this a racial issue, but to make sure everybody there doesn't make it one, like we all know they can do so well when it comes to black ppl.
Sorry, but you just can't trust & leave some things in the hands of a nation that was built on hatred & enslaving black ppl. They made that bed, now they have to lie in it. Black ppl just arent' trusting of the white sys that lied so many times before about "justice for all".

This is a race issue because he is a MAJOR BLACK QUARTERBACK (which we all know their are only a few of those) and "white America" don't particularly like it. So they probably gave him the third degree on how he lived just so they could find something to get him on to bring him down. Now if he is guilty he is a fool. He forgot that he was black in America, and these white folks examine blacks like a fine tooth comb. Whereas with other whites they disregard anything illegal they may do. That is why I think it is a race issue.

It's definitely a race issue on both sides. One thing we as black do and have always done is stand up and support those of us that are persecuted. I love dogs and I love Michael Vick as the most entertaining athlete in football. I think what he did was horrible( and lets not kid ourselves, he did do it). I think it's cruel and heartless. But I also know that white America, especially the narrow-minded, conservative racists are always lying in the gap waiting for black people(especially millionaire supper stars) to screw up so that they can justify their own hatred and say "see, that's why I don't like them". And as cruel as dog fighting is, it isn't as nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. We have more conservatives witch- hunting Vick and trying to save trees and whales then those trying to improve health care and feed starving children who die by the thousands RIGHT HERE!
Black people know this and we're defending our own because no one else will.

I don't think it matters his race or color or social status. He was caught involved (allegedly) with cruelty and violence toward living creatures. Who among you with any feelings could possibly look away and say "no big deal" or "it's not my business". It is when WE, every man woman and child, sit silently and DO NOT speak up against violence and injustice and cruelty that allows these things to continue. Too often people don't want to get "involved" but I tell you, if we don't speak up these injustices continue, and next time, instead of dogs torn to pieces, it will be children, or you and I.

Interesting point, and I've experienced this attitude personally. Some black people I know will jump to defend anything they think is associated with black people, regardless of the issue. I'll say I don't like baggy, low-rider pants and instantly a fashion statement is turned into a race issue on me.
